2007 VE V8 Radiator top tank busted

Well mine just went the other day... conventiently just a few weeks after id dropped & replaced the coolant. Exactly the same as OP with the broken bit still inside the hose, mine at least held out until nearly 120000km. I just got the whole thing replaced & a new water pump whilst i was there...

CHECK ENGINE" Warning Illumination and esp off, 08 SS

Had similar... would struggle to start like the battery was flat, flash up check engine/contact dealer or whatever just for a second, then stuck with ESP OFF & running rough (tended to do this only after it had been run/warm engine). I took the intake off & cleaned the MAF and throttle body...

what is best cold air induction for a v6

02 VU V6 should have a CAI already, the VT/VX SC version is exactly the same thing but with a slightly larger opening/mouth (same width & everything; if you just cut the hole a bit higher up you'd have the same).

what is best cold air induction for a v6

Right on the money brutha!! Why pay $400+ for something you can bang up yourself with $10 of pvc pipe. The performance improvement you'll get from the $10 job is worth the $10; the performance improvement you'll get from the $400+ job is still only worth $10. Its a very minimal, next to...

    Various VXII S/C modding questions

CAIs are such a ripoff, as already said - the DIY job is the way to go: http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/showthread.php?t=18150 My homebrew CAI is in there somewhere, $10 well spent - and still no probs at all, nobody has ever really noticed its not factory either. As for installing...

    VT/VX Instrument globes

Mine had a few with white dots on the back, though they are no different to the ones without, all the same part number. You're pretty much limited to only being able to get them from Holden, or perhaps Coventrys or Amcap. Holden only charged me $6.50 each.

cheapest place to buy a genuine monaro bonnet

In WA, Holden will slug you almost 2k for the 'kit', and Coventrys about $1600... dont know about Amcap in Welshpool? I got mine off ebay, sent from over east for $1300 delivered.

VT Calais "Trac Off" Light coming on

Do you have traction control? Its supposed to only turn off when you manually switch it yourself, and will reset to default ON when you turn the ignition off & on again.

    WTB: Genuine VZ Monaro Bonnet

Thanks bro, but ive found both of them already... Ive contacted them, and including delivery they both end up more expensive than what i can get it for from a local Holden dealership (i have a service & parts discount card) - but thats still more than i want to pay!

    Homemade air duct (with pics)

If any one is concerned, here is mine 9 months down the track... travelling approx 100kms a day. Being supercharged, the engine runs a little hotter, and has pulleys/belts closer to the pipe than a regular v6. What it looked like first fitted is on page 2, post #32. Update page 3, post #75.

    COLD AIR INTAKE(Instructions)

Hes told me to do alot of things... but i cant afford most of them :D If i had the ability to fabricate a propper shielded pod setup i probably would... though in all it would end up being more expensive, for $10 or so what ive got does me fine. You're right there is no intercooler (YET)...

    Homemade air duct (with pics)

Just a little update for anyone wanting to try this out - its been however long since i spanked in the homemade cai & ive had absolutely no problems. No water getting in on rainy days & no problems what so ever with heat on hot days. As for fuel economy i am usually getting 600kms+ from a...

Adjustable rear camber on VX standard??

As said before VX 2 has an extra set of control links (not related to FE2, a VX 1 with FE2 wont have them) to amend the problem in VX 1 & earlier IRS. If its a VX 1 then you will need preferably a 4 point adjustable camber kit to straighten them up as much as possible, VX 2 you shouldnt need...

vx air intake for monaro bonnet

Yeah its ram air, you'd probably have to have something custom made (if possible) for a V6, as it was designed for a V8 setup like this:

FIT style rockers at half the pric... good or not?

Cracker is right... the L67 in the USA is the same as the L67 here (supercharged 3.8L Ecotec, NA version is the L36 i think), though they are in a E/W FWD configuration. I think they refer to the ecotec as the series 2 Buick 3800, and the vn-vr v6 as the series 1 buick 3800. They are pretty...

    VX S S/C/VX SS/VX Clubsport

Pacemaker have just made FIT some 1¾ headers, & along with their dual cat into single 3" system it sounds pretty hot... a LOT better than the usual single 2½ system on the v6. Plus the whine of a supercharger is sweet :) Only downside i see to a supercharged model is the fact that they...

Anyone got a pic of VX II IRS control link..???

I think its not as easy as just 'attaching a control link'... i read some place its more like replacing most of the rear end and is very expensive, someone correct me if im wrong. I got a 4 point adjustable camber kit installed in my s1 VX S when i had it lowered... the camber is about the...

    Malfunctioning auto lights-off system

Earlier commodores have it too, well i know a VS does for sure. It shuts off the headlights when your door opens. There's a little button thing in next to the door hinge which i assume is the trigger; make sure that pops in and out easily, also that you're opening the door enough for it to switch :)
  23. Optimus_Prime

    lowering a VT

Yeah you can leave your struts but if you/someone else jack your car up or put it on a hoist you'll need to make sure the rear springs are fixed in place when taking it down, if theyre not then theres a chance theyll pop out and your ass will drop, which is bad. If you drive carefully over...

    Cold Air Intake

Take it back and ask for the extra litre! Im sure you meant 3.8 anyways :) You wont have any problems, but instead of sucking in colder air comming from the front of the car it will be sucking in hot air from the engine bay. Best off leaving it on unless replacing it with a bigger CAI.

    FIT vs SS CAI

Doesn't the FIT type-S CAI replace the whole airbox, thus the VS version should be able to fit a VR?? You could always get the VS supercharged V6 cold air intake from holden, which has the OTR mouth, snorkel & bottom airbox replacement - much cheaper than FIT or SS Inductions and should fit...

    Brake Upgrade

Im sold on the rotors, though have a few questions on pads: Any idea what the police pads are worth from holden & do i just go in to the parts desk and say '1 set of police pads please'? Do they last as long & are they as good as bendix ultimate (i thought they were bendix ultimates but...

    Homemade air duct (with pics)

HERE IS MY ATTEMPT! I put in an extra 22.5° bend before the 90° so it fit with enough space away from the belts; I might have only had to do this because mines supercharged. I put a 15° in the airbox just to direct the air towards the filter more and away from flowing straight out some...

    Brake Upgrade

Alright ive done a search and read everything but still im unsure... IF i change the standard front rotors in my VX to DBA slotted, and the pads to bendix ultimate/police pads will it largely improve braking & most importantly get rid of the rocking/pulsating/towing a 1 tonne trailer feeling...

    Painted Engine covers

Just undo the 7(?) bolts and take the covers off! If you dont have a socket set with elbows to get to the tricky ones it might be easier to take off the the air intake pipe & alternator. Also if the gasket is/gets broken or even looks pretty cruddy it would pay to replace them, they're only like...

    FE2 suspension

A camber kit isnt needed for fe2, with S & SS it comes standard with no camber kit... although there is a bit of camber there anyways - so if you really wanted the rears straight as possible it wouldnt hurt. Though like Binary, my Bridgstone B530s also held up perfectly fine with no camber kit...

    Removing the front lights

Yeah black headlights on a silver car does look awesome... However spraying the chrome reflective background might not be the best idea. Surely it would affect the light output and be unsafe? Also i know on my VX the headlights are sealed, and unless you know how to break that and then seal...

replaced serpentine belt but car doesn't start

Well by the time it came to jump starting, my battery i think was completely dead, only had to rev because my car needed a heap of charge i assume. I doubt just a slightly depleted battery would stop it turning over... would probably just struggle a bit before kicking in. Though you never know...

replaced serpentine belt but car doesn't start

Your battery might be flat? Try some jumper leads. Same sort of thing happend to my old VS... belt and everything tried to turn, made it around once, then died, didnt even make the clicking/tapping it usually does when the battery is flat. Hooked it up to my old mans VX (engine running)...
