    Quick Question : Harmonic Balancer/CAS

Does it start at all?, have you checked for any stored malfunction codes? Might give you a clue whats going on. Code 41 is for no crankshaft input signals and the car won't start with this code. Not sure on anything else to do with the CAS but my manual says that if any of the blades have...

    help!!! car wont start

Check for power at the pump connector, if no power check the fuse and see if the relay is working. If there is power maybe the pump has packed it in if its been using only the gas for a while

fuel pump not working and no engine light

Does the car still try and turn over?, have you checked the fusible links as well in the engine bay. A lot of what you are missing is controlled through the ECU , including the check engine light and fuel pump relay. You may have inadvertently fried the ECU if all the fuses, fusible links and...

    MAT Sensor

The MAT Sensor is one of the inputs used by the ECM to control the fuel injector pulse width. The ECM supplies a voltage and then monitors this voltage to the sensor which changes resistance depending on the air temperature being fed to the engine. If you get a MAT sensor circuit fault the...

Bonnet release catch spring need help

Sounds like he's talking about the one in the radiator support, that the cable pulls to release the bonnet pin. On my VN there is a plastic shroud between the radiator and the radiator support. When you remove this you can then open the loop that the cable pulls on then use pliers to take the...

    o2 sensor

On VN series 1's, not sure about others, you can check for a circuit from D7 on the ECM to ground. If you have a decent multimeter you can then check with the ignition on and engine not running and you should see between 350 and 450 millivolts at D7. Then with the engine at operating...

    vn temp sensor

Which temperature sensor are you after. The V6 has two water ones and and air temp sensor. They are all located next to each other toward the rear of the intake manifold. The lower one is the coolant temperature sensor, the other two are just above this with the one toward the centre of the...

    Fuel Problem

If you are convinced its not the gauge and you have already done an external leak test by pressurising the system (without running the engine). Try the internal test. Maybe one or more of the injectors are leaking , although I would not think you would lose the amount of fuel your talking about...

    Vacationer?

Not sure for the VS , but I doubt a V6 would come with the larger tank as a Vacationer option. VN's sedans had air, S model seats, level 2 dash, electric aerial, power steering, vacationer decals and pin striping above the factory base commodore. The wagons also had a roof rack. I also drove...

    Symptoms of blown intake gasket?

One symptom is misfiring at idle, you can check by running some oil around the intake manifold gasket, if its that try tightening the intake manifold down some more or replace the gasket.

If you took the time to read my question I did not say that Simmons Wheels were in some way inferior or bend easily but it happens, I only wanted to know if (like Simmons used to) Tempe tyres repair them as well as sell them, because no matter how good YOU think you are sometimes things go wrong...

    dash lights??

Not sure if VP's are the same as my VN but in mine the power is all fed from the light switch on the binacle and go through the fuse to the TBar etc, and go direct from the switch for the tail and cleaarance lamps. The fuse and globes may be OK but have you checked there is power either side of...

    fuel injection

Just a thought. Hows the MAP sensor maybe it's playing up as the ECM uses the info for spark and fuel control. You could also check the vacuum hose to the sensor for leaks or restrictions after moving things around you might have inadvertently caused an issue so the MAP sensor is not working...

Where does the temp gauge sit?

If you want to check the sender and are handy with an ohmeter then for the guage to read cold the sender should present a resistance of 283 Ohms to the guage. If once the car is up to operating temp (confirmed by your old capillary guage) but the cars guage still shows cold and the resistance...

    Simmons from TempeTyres?

Does anyone know if Tempe are only reproducing or will they do repairs like Simmons used to? because if you buy some and their like the originals then you are bound to bend/damage one and need repairs and you don't want to be forced into new just because you hit pothole or misjudged the gutter.

The dealers tradies mistake should not be your problem its the businesses. If after trying the dealer principle you get no satisfaction get onto Holden themselves maybe they can bring some pressure to bear on the dealer to get the appropriate result.

    91 VN strange overheating???

Hows the radiator hoses condition, maybe one is collapsing with the suction and restricting the flow and when you stop to look the revs are down and it opens back up so everything looks good. There cheap enough to change to be on the safe side.

    injector question

I am assuming that you have checked the ECM and it is OK (no code 41 in the memory). That the car is cranking at sufficient speed and the fuel is fresh and at the correct pressure. If you have a multimeter check that the injectors are around 16 ohms as less than 12ohms may damage the ECM...

With the car not running and a good battery around the 12.7 volts measured on the supply side of the globe. If you have a dodgy earth you will also see voltage on the earth side, and that reading should be zero for a good earth and go up the worse the earth. Also did a bit of research and it...

    Harmonic Balancer Help needed please

The crankshaft seal is not that difficult if you have the right tools. You remove the balancer, remove the radiator fan and shroud assembly and using the special tool, GMH no E308, pluck the seal out. Then using a nylon hammer and tool No J28540 (basically pushes the seal in square) install...
