If it’s not a daily and can be off the road for a while, remove the box and strip it down and replace all the worn and broken bits

Check your bank balance before you begin
If in doubt about your ability to do such, go to a gearbox specialist but also check your bank balance…
PS: when auto transmissions fail, ensure that all transmission lines and coolers are fully flushed or better still removal e along with a rebuilt torque converter. Doing such will avoid a new transmission being trashed by crud within the old cooler or old converter making it’s way back to the new transmission.
