When i bought my ute, it had stock 18” rims snd tyres on. I swapped them out to to bfw dive staggered 20” with cheap chinese tyres while i waited for a decent michelin special to come along.
I then bought a set of niche missimo 20” with michelin pilot 275/35’s all round.
Immediately upon hitting the bitumen, i noticed wheel noise for the first time.
I don’t think it’s the tyres so is it possible that rims create noise?

+4 for tyres. Had all sort of noise problems with the OEM Contisportcontact tyres on the GenF2 GTS.

Well, this is gutting. I read so many reviews that said pilot sport 4s were "quiet". Only to find supercats and xingxang tyres, whilst grip might not be a thing, are much quieter.

Barely 2k on these tyres and I don't enjoy long drives any more.

What are the options for great grip in temperate climates without tyre roar?

I recently replaced my bridgstone 050s with 003s I wanted the ps4s but couldn't justify spending the extra $ . The first thing I noticed was how much quieter they were . The grip seems ok but haven't really pushed them but seem as good as 050 were when new but they seemed to lost grip at 30k with still plenty of tread left on them

.. the only way an alloy wheel will create/make noise is
it is out of round or damaged
or simply not bolted/mounted correctly

ps.. wheel nuts tight too??

I drove down to Bridgestone, and they said they have no tyre quieter. He looked the tyres over and we took a test drive. Their opinion is, take them back. They are definitely noisier than they should be.
