Holden Commodore VE SV6 2007
Hi everyone, i have Holden Commodore SV6 2007 automatic transmission. My car takes a few seconds delay to switch to drive only. On a cold run seem fine but when the engine warm up, it sometimes revs high to start moving from stop and the car shakes, sometimes it takes off just fine. Always difficult to go up hill. There are also jerking/slipping when gear change while driving. Got engine code to: P0700.
My solution for this is when i stop the car, i switch to selective gear so the car can be at first gear, the car takes off just fine but a bit high rpm. When it starts moving, i switch back to drive and continue driving normally. That way, the car less likely to shakes. Also noticed that when i use selective gear, i can only do upshifting but not downshifting. It can only downshift when the speed is drop.
I bring the car to transmission specialist, was told the fluid level was low and the damaged had already been done and need to be rebuild (based on how he feel when driving the car). The leak is from the pan so must be the seal worn out. For now, i refill the fluid with new filter and seal with Lucas transmission stop slip. The car run a bit better but still difficult to take off and the car still shakes sometimes. Switching between selective gear and normal drive seem help a lot when taking off and less likely to shake. Still couldn't downshift with selective gear. And the code is gone.
So my question is: will the problem is actually from the clutch, flywheel, transmission solenoids? Or it really from the gear box itself that need to be rebuild?

I drive my car every day to work and long driving with heavy load on it.

Thanks

When was it last serviced PROPERLY by a professional automatic company?
It’s been suggested they need to be serviced PROPERLY at least every 100,000 kilometres.
It’s seems to me 50,000 kilometres is much safer and far better for long automatic transmission life.

I brought to mechanic serviced but they didn't tell me anything about transmission fluid. So i have been driving without changing transmission fluid for 2 years. Now that i learn transmission fluid also need to be changed, i don't know if the gear box is really damaged.

I bring the car to transmission specialist,
If you took it to a specialist and he said damage is already done then everything you are doing is not going to change anything in the long run is it?
Did he give you a quote to rebuild the box?
Take it to another specialist and see what they think and if both come to the same diagnosis then you either bite the bullet and get it fixed or look for a low km one that has been serviced correctly and fit that but they are getting to be a bit like unicorn poo.

Was quoted around 5K. The thing is it was just how he feels when he drives the car from outside to the shop. I don't think he did the throughout check, just based on how he feels when driving it.

This is the problem to confirm everything they have to take it apart and no point putting it back together if it is bad.
I would probably look at getting another quote from someone else and then ring around for a few more quotes.
But yes $3900 - $6000 is some of the prices I have heard for different VE trans so he is in the ballpark.

I know you are probably hoping for a magic fix but it's not going to happen.

Yeah. Thanks for the reply. Just want to make sure what to do before getting it rebuild.

Also, I would recommend fitting a high quality external transmission cooler and brand new radiator if you get the transmission rebuilt. Was the car driven hard (besides towing heavy loads) or thrashed?

Was 263K km last year, now around 277K km.
Only difficult to take off, high RPM and slowly take off. After that, the car would run fine. As long as the car is moving, slowly rolling, accelerating fine.
