I'd start with tires, better tires will stop the ABS kicking in. Probably need to look at shocks too, crap shocks means the rear tires will unload when you brake hard and then we have the ABS again. A good brake bleed job/clean fluid wouldn't go amiss either.

Give your mate a good kick in the balls next time you see him too.

Jack the rear end up and see if both or just wheel spins. A really tight LSD will do that as will a welded diff.

Perhaps he hasn’t seen your post yet? As usual another unhelpful reply from you
The factory service book didn’t have an answer in it for Gossie to refer to.

As others have said, definitely needs new tyres and some suspension work, though people do say that the fastest car on the road is a V6 Commodore with P-Plates, and the wet roads act as liquid horsepower ;)

does the traction control work? As an old bloke I probably wouldn't notice if it did or didn't work in most cases. I drove a mates VS for a week a while back when I gave it back to him he said did I notice the abs wasn't working I hadn't noticed. Your driving style is probably a lot of the problem maybe the diff has locked up does it chirp around corners when its dry?
On a vy you'll know it as they smack pedal back up as you try to mash it down...then realise forgot to turn it off lol

Don't know about v6 but if v8 model couldn't do it when you wanted would be wanting refund.

Traction control does work on the V6 (if fitted) and it's ******* aggressive but there is no throttle relaxer so you don't feel it under your foot, just a total loss of power. ABS is obviously the same as the V8's where you feel the brake pedal pulsing.

Putting my money on it having a set of 10 year old, hard RE92's for tyres.
