Apologies, should of pressed reply, not comment.
Final question below:
How long can you drive the car once this issue starts happening? I need to run a few errands, but I'm concerned something is gonna go fkn BANG and then I'll be in a world of ****.
Not at all really. It’ll mess with the mesh pattern and can wear the hardening off the gears. You may be lucky if irreversible damage hasn’t already been done.

It’ll need to be properly set up again but depending on gear condition it may whine a bit more than it did before

I'd drive it straight to the dealership, the more you drive it the worse it will get.

Agreed. And take photos/videos of the symptoms too so you have a record of what’s going on and keep copies of all paperwork and notes of conversation between yourself and the dealer.

I highly doubt mechanics at a dealership would have the knowledge and skill to carry out the required work. Most places would refer you to a diff specialist

Cheers, I keep records of virtually everything.

It's a pretty major dealership, they should be able to sort it out hopefully.
My main concern is I don't want to fork out my own cash for their **** up.

Was there whining sound or small clunk before they touched it?

If not, take it straight back & dump it on them.

Keep complaining up the chain to service manager etc

Simple job....$600 for crap service is a joke

None at all, as soon as I picked it up it was there, for some reason I thought it must of been normal? Maybe something needed to settle in? Which obviously was total bullshit, but I had it in my mind anyway.

You know what else is amazing? They must of heard this noise, thought it was okay, and just gave back the car.
Or, since it's a dealership, it's all about churn, who gives a **** about the quality of workmanship, just **** the car up even more than what it was at first, and give it back.

Makes me sick tbh.
My first time, and last time I'll ever take my car to a goddamn dealership.

Just gotta make sure I don't totally loose it when I bring it in on Wednesday ;)

Anyway, will keep ya'll posted.

Back in the day had a vt ss 5 litre that would only go to dealership for oil changes to keep it's warranty...came back with a miss so kept taking it back untill fixed before warranty expired.

Alternator,injectors,ecu,battery leads etc etc

Somehow they had cracked a sparkplug....

The first thing to do is LOOK, INSPECT, for anything out of place or out of the ordinary. A miss? Replaced the alternator? WTF??

If it is the diff making the noise, they probably didn't mark the pinion flange, nut and shaft so it went back together exactly the same as it was.

But what's got me is noise is heard stationary in park???

Only thing I can think of is, did they drain some trans fluid out of the transmission so it didn't pour out when they took the drive shaft out. OR the fluid did pour out but they forgot or just didn't check and top up the trans fluid level when the job was finished??

I'd be asking them to make sure they check the transmission fluid level mate.
