So I've been wondering about buying a VE Calais v6 but I'm not a huge fan of the v6s that are in them. Was wondering is a big job to swap out the v6s in them to put in an Ecotec and what else would be required in relation to doing the swap eg, wiring harness, computer etc

Cheers in advance

It would be an absolute nightmare and likely would never pass. The electronics alone would do your head in.

Waste of time and you would end up with a worse car. It would basically be the same as doing a complete engine swap into a different make of car, the only thing that's the same between a VE and a Commodore that came with an Ecotec is that they're both called a Commodore. Nothing will bolt in and the looms and technology around the two are completely different.

Buy something that already has an Ecotec if you want one.

If you really don't like the Alloy, then buy an SS, problem solved.:):)

You‘ll never get the engineering approval for it to be driven on the road as the ecotec is older than the alloytec so it will have worse emissions.

Would be easier, cheaper and better to do a 6.0 V8 swap into it.

A Barra in a VE would be the perfect combo. There’s a couple of threads on it.
