Wow it doesn't cool down much in 2 hours! Are you going to do the transmission service yourself or pay one of the rip-off merchants?
In my experience, so called transmission specialists are the biggest rip off of all the auto trades I've used. I had one tell me they did a full service when I knew they didn't even take the pan off.
I totally sick of these people. yes I want to do the service myself and the only thing that will stop me is my age and having no strength. I have done over 30 autos in my life. the last 4 in this year alone but never done car with the 4 wheels off the Ground.

Yes it did not cool to much in 2 hrs. Just Imaging the car running on a warm Brisbane Day, you drive 20 K to the Auto Service itself, the box is at max or near it the Maximum Temperature itself yet they take the oil out via the removal of the pan , change the filter, then put the new oil in and yet they neets to start the car around the 30 Degree mark to see the car auto is doing the right thing. No doeblt the tem of the box itself + the way they hurry things these days they will never get the correct level in the gearbox itself. The Video on youtube was good as the guy there was not in a hurry and allowed the car to fully cool down before starting the car again and let it heat up naturally. All I have to say after today's exercise the world has be full of shonk's.

Well, on the plus side if you drive to the service place and they take the pan off and clean it then fill with new cool fluid, when they start the car and the new fluid mixes with the hot fluid the average temperature should be roughly 40 degrees which is about right for checking the level.

Now this is the second RIGHT topic for today.
Rang Holden Dealers about servicing the Auto

Now I rang Holden 2 Dealers today and I got a Quote to service the auto on the WN 2013 MY14 Caprice V with a 6.0 Ltr Engine in it and the Dealer said : : one said $395 and the other Said $410. Hummm Expensive!!. Now I asked do you Flush the System out for that money and both said NO just remove the pan, change filter and that's it.

Rang 3 other businesses today
I Rang 3 different place that I know that they service Auto and I told them Do you used AC Delco Dexron 6 for our Caprice V and the 3 of them said NO " they use Synthetic oil, Hummm that ok only if you remove all the older oil, after this Asked how do you measure the Temp of the auto Gearbox to finalize the total capacity that is Needed and two of them said, Well we go into special mode of your dash and it tells me what the temp is. Hummmm WHAT On a WN Caprice V or beter still the WN is a Copy of the VF Commodore . Yes We will wait until the require temperture then we check the oil by adding or remove oil from the overflow. Once agail Hummmm AFAIK ther is NO ENGINEERING Mode or any other way to check the temp on the Gearbox on the dash.
Now two of the three gave me Porkies and after going on 3 sites Via Google like I said before there is NO ENGINEERING MODE ON ANY VF or WN (Ok for the VE series) cars for F.cuk sake so why are people lying to me, WHY Only there third person said to me "WE use a device that plug into you car (Should had Said OBD2 but most dont know this) we connect to you car and the device tells us the the oil temperture. Argghjghddft Fuk I hate $$$$$lairs$$$$$..
Are these guys lying or just have no idea! (I'm not sure which one is worse!) How many VF trannys have they serviced? Probably not too many.
Also Dex VI is fully synthetic, and 100% agree only use different type if a full flush.

Another method is to just measure how much you drained and pump that much back in, plus I a little extra - that way you dont have to have the car level.
Of course, you are trusting that the gearbox was at the correct level to begin with.

For me I dont want to mix, Either get AC Delco Dexron 6 to match the older AC Delco Dexron 6 or flush the complete system out and use another brand of oil but for me its a no go to mix different brands together..

Well its a guessing game but at the same time two out three places I rang can't say its 40 Deg or 60 Deg or dont have a way to measure a VF (WN car). Hell they might say its in 40 Deg in Fahrenheit. LOL,LOL. For me I would like a level car and remove the pan, change the filter, New Gasket, Fill with AC Delco Dexron 6 (Same as original), fill it until it overflows from the overflow tube, put the plug back in, start the car, go though the gears for 10 seconds each gear, put it in park then check again at around 35 Deg C (Hell if they do it there way it could be 65 Deg) and add or remove oil. Turn the car off and let the car still until next morning and start the car again and when it comes to around 35 deg C ( it will take time to get here at 35 Dec C, around 10- 11 minutes like i reported before) either add or remove oil and by doing this you will know how the gearbox will have at the real temperature at 35 Deg C. I would prefer to have more then less oil as shown on some US Chevy's (our VE or VF)

WHAT!!!!
Rang Holden Stealers for a price for the filter and the Gasket for 6L80 E gearbox and they quoted me very close to $200. WHAT!!!!.. After I frothed out of my mouth the Spare parts guy said "we will give you a discount for the both filter and the Gasket" and it will cost you $150. Gruuuuuuugghhhh
Tell me all are they that expensive !!

Doing my sums here as I can get the AC Delco Dexron 6 for a fair price from Ebay (2X4 ltrs) so I decided to ring holden for a price for the filter and Gasket.
