gday, so i got a tune done about a month ago on my ve omega ly7, power to the wheels was 155kw, but tourqe was 281nm. and it shows my tourqe went from 277nm to 281nm, a 4nm increase?? i wasnt really worried i just thought it may have been a **** tune. but then i got curious and compared mine to other alloytecs.

this is from a vz le0 manual commo, with 175kw to the engine stock, making 121kw atw, seems right, but then its making 382nm, and went down to 350nm, not worried about that but just wondering how its tourqe is so high? was this guys tune just off maybe?

thats my dyno results. i thought my tourqe would be higher then that because ive done my diff gears from 3.27 to 3.7, and have a manifold insualtor, plus exhaust and k&n panel filter but that wont affect tourqe to much anyway.
my only thought is that when my tune was getting done, it was in 4th, and because its a 4sp slushbox thats the overdrive gear, and this guy has a manual so 4th would be a higher ratio gear.
just want to know what other people reckon. cheers.

Same car, same dyno, same day?

Rather than being concerned about a graph that’s easy to fudge, you’d be better off considering whether the drive experience has actually improved and whether the money you spent on the tune was worth it for you…

Rather than basing conclusions on a graph, I’d think a few 0-100 and 60-100 timed runs before and after the tune are probably more indicative of any improvement than some graph (because they can all be fudged)…

The power figure would be reasonably accurate (as that is what the dyno measures), torque is calculated based on gearing, rpm etc where as an engine actually creates torque and HP is actually just a calculation based on work done.

The concept of horse power dates back to the early mining days and was based on how much the average pit pony could move a certain amount of coal over a set time/distance (can't quite remember but google it if interested).

Normally power runs are done in what ever gear is 1:1 in the transmission (otherwise you have either torque multiplication or reduction depending on the gear used) or what ever gear is closest to 1:1, in a car with a 4l60e you would never dyno in 4th.

yeah i was driving it around today and if i give it a squirt it defiantly feels alot faster. even going around corners on half throttle and the wheels lock up, and off the line feels off its head. but yeah your 100% right though. wish i did get some runs but im only on my L's so its hard too.

yeah thats what i was thinking to it wouldnt make sense for them to use the overdrive gear. i was just confused because it said gear 4 on the dyno sheet. maybe they though it was a 6 speed? doubt it though

yeah ive got 3.7's. but wouldnt that improve torque because theres better acceleration?
You don't make a single kw or nm more with different gear ratios, gear ratios are a rotational multiplier not a power adder.
