Just because you can afford something doesn't mean you should buy it.

I can afford to take my fiancée to Rockpool for dinner, but she's more than happy to go to Outback Steakhouse. Obviously the food at Rockpool is of a much higher quality, it is more exclusive and the chefs are more experienced and highly trained, but Outback Steakhouse is still pretty fricken awesome.

All I can say to this argument is if you took high school economics, you would get a "absolute Fail"

German manufacturing is highly, almost ridiculously subsidised by the German government and has been since word dot. They don't make cars the way they do cause the water's fresher on that side of the fence. Comparing a car that comes from a non-manufacturing service driven economy the size of Australia to Germany is like comparing Russian to New Zealand vodka.

That's leaving the tax & tariff argument alone completely, cause every country does this to protect its own industry, yes even ze germans.

Okay done, papers signed & in a few weeks I'll be the owner of a brand new SSV.

Forgot about the redline package. Ended up going for Hazard sedan, darkest legal window tint, lowered with king springs & 20 inch wheels, CAI, 2.5 inch catback all dealer installed. Was looking at 2nd hand but got this baby for an insane price.

    Can't wait!!!

    Sorry, bump.

Opinions of the 2.5 Walkinshaw & the growler otr? Seems most people on here tend to favour the KPM stuff.

Walkinshaw exhaust is overpriced - but otherwise fine. They're Perry systems and there's nothing wrong with them at all (you can buy perry systems cheaper from perry, incidentally).

The growler intakes are nowhere near as good as they should be for that price. The airbox option is... well.. not great on a V8 and the growler OTR is not in the same field as a number of other intakes on the market. Don't get me wrong, you'll get gains from the OTR, particularly with a tune - but they're selling for the same or more than other high-end intakes that perform significantly better. However, seing you already have the growler, you may or may not be able to justify the dollar vs gain on a new OTR - unless the growler you have is the airbox - then it's definitely worth it.

KPM is a very popular exhaust and sounds fantastic - but there are a bunch of VERY good exhaust systems - and that's without going custom.

    Thanks for the info TinSnips,

Exhaust wise I don't necessarily want to make it loud as hell, just more than stock.

    Awesome car!

Good choice... Love mine. The red with stripes & 20' rims attracts a lot of unwanted attention from the police, but it is a gem to drive! I think the stereo is great and has a reasonable amount of control. I use an iPod most of the time and it plays a treat. Searching songs can be a problem if you have a lot on there. But I just made up a few smaller play lists for different moods.

Okay bit of a problem, the car has 20x10 wheels on the back, so technically not road worthy, going to have to get him to swap em for other wheels...

Yeah it's just the airbox on it at the mo, and considering I'm getting the car for a steal I can justify spending a few hundred on an OTR. Then I just need a MAF tune right? I'm such a noob...

If you grab the MAF version of whatever OTR you choose, then a MAF tune will be your best bet (I know with VCM MAF otrs, a tune isn't essential - but you won't get the full benefit of the intake without a tune - I'd assume it would be the same for other manufacturers supporting MAF installs). Obviously, if you were wanting to go MAFless, you'd buy the MAFless intake.

VCM is a company, they make intakes, tune cars etc.

OTR is over the radiator, a type of intake.

MAF is short for Mass airflow sensor :)

Ha, cheers. I had the MAF under control but OTR had me:idea3:
The VCM OTR's look well made. What's the impact on factory warranty with fitting this stuff?
