Took the heads off to change a lifter and found out I need a new cam so I’m doing that and now I found this on the cylinder with the bad lifter, what are your thoughts

Can you feel score marks with your fingers or is it smooth? Or are you talking about the ring at the top?

i can feel it with my fingers, I’m going to hone it tomorrow and get new piston rings then do a pressure test when it’s back together

Ok now who's been redlining it doing burnouts ey?
Does this car sit for days/ weeks between outings? Bores might be drying out and running dry on startup.

I took the head off last week to do the lifter and put it all back together and had to take it out again to do cam and I wanted to use better head bolts and when I took it out it looked like this, I think it carbon deposits might have broken off and done this
