Hey all,

Been scouring the forum for an answer, can’t really find one for me.

Was testing my car out today around the block, probs going max 40kmh, and I hit a shallow pothole and heard a pretty loud clang. Then the sound of something metal dragging. Thought I’d lost my exhaust or something but nothing under the car was dangling. Felt the handbrake was way looser than before and checked the cables on the rears. One had fallen out of its place. I put it back in, there’s lots of play but I can still hear the a very scary metal scraping and clanging when I’m moving.

Any advice is helpful!!
Cheers lads
Here's a link to the vt - vz workshop manual.

Cheers guys. Didn’t even realise I got so many messages, didn’t get a single notif about them. I got the tools, just literally haven’t had time between work and uni. Thought I’d get some answers in the mean time. Thanks all!

Yep. Get it apart. Have a look. If still not sure, post some pics for us all to look at and guide you through further.
I’d expect you have to buy parts so have alternative transport arranged.

Might be a cable or a spring. You might find the handbrake shoe is worn or it’s bent.

Doing the handbrake shoes can test your patience.

It should be. When ever I’ve done it, I crack the shits and walk away for a bit. The whole spring thing annoys me. That linked video, old mate there was also challenged by it. It’s why I posted it. He reflects the experience most will have.

I didn't watch either.

When l did mine, l had the other vt to copy.
One side on mine was ok, but the other side had been put together wrong.

I wouldn't be able find the correct spanner(s) tools.
Nope that don't fit, nope neither does that, neither does that.

Call Paul the tow truck man & send it to the mechanic. :D
