Interesting dyno result

The difference should be 36kw but it's not...

If you take SAE vs DIN into consideration the difference should be 31 fwkw, with 25% drivetrain loss it is about 23 rwkw difference so pretty close to the 20 rwkw difference in the video. Holden use SAE - HSV use DIN

Did not know that

So hsv kw are marginally inflated when compared to Holden

Why on earth would they use different method ? Marketing ?

Here are engine power measurements, at the flywheel:

HSV SV340 = 340 DIN
GM LS3 = 304 SAE
GM L77 = 270 SAE

HSV claim (340 / 1.0139) to SAE = 335 kW
SAE 1349 Flywheel (335 / 1.27) to J607 Rear = 263 kW
Correct!

GM VF2 claim = 304 kW
SAE 1349 Flywheel (304 / 1.27) to J607 Rear = 240 kW
Correct!

Out of all power badge claims the two standout oddities are:
• That the LS2 was 300 at the rear wheels when was of course DIN and 233 (J607) kW; Urban Myth
• GM quoting VE/VFI as (SAE 1349) 270 kW = 213 at rear wheels, which was correct with L76 @ 5300 RPM. however the L77 cam and tune revision peaked at 5700, 220-235 at rear; HSV badge would be 302 and that probably wouldn't stick for several reasons :D

That is so shonky! Holden and HSV quoting different kilowatt figures, might as well just call them killer wasps and make up your own numbers....

I thought there were three, the normal 317 is an LS3 isn't it? 307 odd one out with LS2?

Badge vs actual
SV/ 340 = 263 kW
GTS 325 = 252 kW
LS3 317 = 246 kW
LS2 307 = 238 kW
VF2 304 = 239 kW
L77 270 = 235 kW

In other words a 270 'rated' car with similar bolt-ons and tune is same 'rating' as 340 car (+/- 2% error)

I'd say an L77 with exhaust including headers, a cai and tune would typically be 310 to 325fwkw.
