Which just so happens the be the same side as the heads of the bolts are.

Yup.

Maybe the OP wants to rotate the coupling a little bit and show the next arrow?

I wish the OP would come back on and tell us what is wrapped around it? Now on the computer and not my phone I still can't work out what it is. I'm also curious to how it got there? :)

If you flip the coupling over the arrows still point to the flange and bolt heads.

I think the strands are reinforcing fibers from within the coupling.

Haven’t got a chance to get under the car but I’ve shown the Pic to few techs at work and it’s usually the material inside the coupling since it’s built similar to a tyre - layers of ply and rubber

The coupling has alternating arrows along the edge when I remove the old one I’ll find out how it sits
I’ve put up pics of the kelpro coupling and instructions and part number
Will use this for the front and do the rear same time. Would it be worth inspecting centre bearing as well? Car has 380xxx and it’s a Ute cheers
