The bearing mount will likely be buggard. You will need to take it to a tailshaft shop to change the bearing and it's not something that can really be done successfully at home. Many Tas local people with VE's have tried to replace the bearing themselves and have trashed the centre uni as a result and then the cost blows out as there are only a few places in the country that can replace the uni.

Hey guys quick question, are the tailshaft couplings the same for auto/manual V6/V8. The kelpro one I uploaded was for my manual SS I bought a year ago which I never got around to change. I decided to use that one for the front and I bought a genuine GM one for the rear. I’ve compared the two, the holes line up the kelpro one is slightly thicker than the genuine. I messaged the seller for the kelpro one recently and he said it won’t suit V6 since the listing only mentions it suits V8. I’m stuck atm since I’ve taken the tailshaft out and replaced the centre bearing will try tomorrow if the couplings fit the length of the tail shaft but any advice is appreciated thanks.

Car is a VY Ute V6 auto 2004

Different on VE V8 and V6 and different between auto and manual too, so chances are it will be different on a VY. You will soon know when you try to line it up at the diff.

So the KDC1003 part won’t fit V6, V6 auto is KDC1004 (kelpro) luckily picked up today.

Another note for the gearbox seal there is a guide you can use a flat head or pry to hammer against to wedge in between the seal enough to start it then you can pry it out. The guide is on the extension housing itself
