Guys and gals,

I've been experimenting with getting a VE Commodore V8 OS and ECU to work in my Pontiac GTO. I programmed one, plugged it in last night, and everything was happy apart from the ABS module. The VE OS does not like the VZ ABS module and won't talk to it. So I thought about using an '08 Pontiac G8 ABS module. It has the same connector on the harness, but it's pinned quite differently and is also looking for a Yaw sensor and Steering Angle sensor that are part of making the ESP work, and those I don't have.

So my question is this: Was there any VE Commodore model that has ABS and Traction Control, but NOT ESP? I'm thinking a very base model, or possibly fleet model may not have had it, but you guys would know better than me.

Can you add a yaw and pitch sensor?
The steering angle sensor is on the steering column on VE.

don't think so.... TC and ESP are linked and need each other (also linked to other sensors)
where as ABS can be on its own

It was on the VZ as well, but that sensor is unobtainable. Never been able to find one. I guess they were only on V6 AWD models.

I found quite a few on the eBay’s.
Interestingly the Bosch ones used look the same on Maserati and similar on Peugeot.

As for steering angle. The WL Statesman and Caprice had the turning lights on the front. Anyone know how that worked? It would have needed a steering angle sensor somewhere for that.

The Yaw sensors are common, but without the Steering Angle sensor, useless. The steering sensor is the Holy Grail. Even a part number from one would give me something to go on. Of course, it means asking someone to remove their steering wheel and clockspring to get to it and take a picture.

Ok. Looks like there is no steering angle sensor with WL Statesman.
I went through the whole steering section. No semsor. I went through photos. No sensor.
The cornering lights are operated by way of the indicators themselves.

*I have done an old man’s screen shot by taking a photo of the screen because my blingin’ track pad is playing up.

Mate at work has a base model VE. I’ll ask him. He might not be there today. If he is I’ll get a photo for you. If not I’ll see if he can send a pic of the console later.
