Well no. Not anymore. @J_D 2.0 did it and documented how on YouTube.
The $2k is the labour to remove the dash and everything.

The Evaporator can be removed with minimal fuss from the side.
Can you link that? Had a quick look and couldn't find, but will continue later

Here it is. I didn’t put the video up though. Someone else did the hard yards there.

Thanks mate. Had a watch of that one, but wasn't sure if it was the one in question. Cheers

What's anyone's take on the attached "quote"

I don't really understand what it says, but I'm going to lend him a hand to cut down on labour costs. We're removing the front bumper, so I assume there's other parts in question that aren't on the quote. Or I just don't understand

I bought a genuine evaporator core for a couple of hundred if that.
The non genuine didn’t come close to fitting and neither did the heater core. jayair was the brand and it was like a square peg in a round hole.

Was a real hazel getting the local business to refund them.

Went to Holden. Cost the same and was in my hands that afternoon.

I was quite surprised by the ease it is to change that one on the drivers side. I was prepared for major mission tearing heaps apart but once you get those couple of trims off its pretty straight forward. The top screw is a little tricky (like you were saying on the other side) and its a a awkward position to lay in but easy enough for any owner to do.
I was more surprised that Holden want to rort to the tune of $410. $100 fair enough, $150 pricey...$410 robbery.
Hey mate hope you reply pretty quickly I’m having trouble on for a stubby screw driver how do you think I can attack it to make it easier
