Most OTRs deal with water ingress reasonably well, though some are better than others. VCM and Dus seem to be the most successful at keeping water out - both have very effective drainage, so spray from cars infront and heavy rain won't be much of an issue (flooding would be though).

As for washing the vehicle, it's a good idea to put a plastic bag over the mouth of the intake - particularly with the VE with the big, gaping grille - pressure cleaners (depending on pressure, obviously) have a nasty habit of soaking filter elements - something also to remember, is that car shampoo is designed to remove road film, so also does a reasonably good job, over time, of removing filter oil (assuming the filter in there is oiled). And if you're anything like me (though not many are), you're stripping your waxes back fairly frequently to try out something new. APC will strip the oil from the filter - so cover it.

Thanks for the Reply TinSnips :) very informative, will keep that in mind.

For what its worth, the guys who fitted the 2.5 KPM system to our wagon also lined the cargo area (including wheel arches) with Dynomat. I dont know what grade they used or how many layers they used but it must have reduced the level of drone down below anything we could hear over the radio.

hmm, im wondering wheather this is entirely accurate. $1100 ? and Mafless tune just to disable the AFM ?? i dont believe it.

I contacted a tuner in Canberra regarding Disabling the AFM on my Wagon, and a seperate Quote for fitting an OTR and Tune. Here is the Response.

My Email::
Hi,

I am just enquiring as to the cost to get the AFM turned off on a 2010 CalaisV Sportwagon.

Also as a seperate Quote, what would it cost for a VCM OTR intake and Tune ? The Wagon also has a 2.5" cat back KPM exhaust fitted.

Thank you.

Response::

hi to disable the afm you have to do a mafless tune which is a complete dyno tune including the auto's shifting.
and the cost is $1100
to supply and maffless tune using the vcm otr is $550 and $1000 for the tune,saving you $125 for the package deal
give me a call on *((number removed.))** to talk if you need to
thanks

Here's a guy to chat to OZTRACK Leaders in Mafless Tuning VT-VE Commodores | Oztrack Tuning - VE L98, LS2 & LS3 Mafless Tuning

Might be worth the drive or he does' mailorder tunes and use's the DUS otr. Give him a call as he also does tunes for the A6 and seems quite good on fuel economy too.
