ve ss fault codes and other questions

Hi

im new here.
have bought a chevrolet lumina ss 2009 model with 6 speed autobox.
always get check engine light after the engine has started,my dealership here in qatar tells me that
the exhaust system is having a leak thats why i get the check engine light.

is this true or ...i dont trust the dealer to much.
can i read the fault codes with any OBD II fault code reader and how do i find out the what the fault code mean?

if i need to change my exhaust,what are peoples opinions about magnaflow catback system(only thing available off the shelf)

also having trouble finding brake discs here in qatar.
getting EBC yellow stuff from europe but brake discs they couldnt find.
anybody have the EBC part number for brake discs.

Hi,

Welcome Geir.

In regards to the error codes. Mostly any OBD II device will work fine, some will come up with different code but the definition usually works out to be the same as the original and you will be able to find it on the web. Oh and before anyone else says it, searching may get you an answer quicker.

I seem to have a problem with the sports shift in my car for some reason it does not respond when I shift into the sportshift mode. Anyone out there have any ideas on a solution?
