I do find it interesting. I'd like to see the engineering certification that stipulates the vehicle max weights and loading as well as towing capacity.

19/20" wheels aren't great for towing and also contribute to a harsh ride as do springs and shocks. Seeing as this is a custom rear chassis the stock springs probably aren't correct and neither will the shock be as the overall weight/weight distribution has probably changed.

No I believe it was triangulated 4-link (like on HQ-HZ Kingswood)
Ok I can't picture that, long time since I owned a HX and didn't really work on that bus, as nothing went wrong with it, lol.

Is it leaf rear end? I can't tell from the photos.

From the text in the pics....."major components such as.....rear suspension are retained....."

Ok, trying to figure out why harsh ride. If its stock ute coils they are pretty awful from factory. Some progressive Lovells rears will work wonders.

It says this build is a later VT, retaining the IRS suspension.
Interesting stock VT IRS was a shocking set up for towing. The rear wheels used to camber really badly. One of the reasons I bought a Ford over a VT.

Looking at the original pics I think there would be close to as much rear weight as a VS tub ute. I had factory springs and they were so harsh it wasn't funny, Lovells made massive improvement, even over corrugations.

My ute started out a '94 VR BT1 (IRS) but owner in '98 when built obviously wanted the 4 link which it has. Harsh ride has everything to do with the 20" rims and 30 profile tyres previous owner fitted. I bought it in February and yet to start making it my own, which will include 18" rims with minimum 45 profile tyre and see how it rides, if ****, will look at shocks. Has just gone 200,000 klms and been looked after so all bushes etc good, front end all tight. Pic is of ute 18 months ago, all original.
