Hi there. I've replaced the door actuator on the rear, and it's working once again as it should be.

I'll do the front door today, and post back later.

Cheers

Hi, I didn't get around to it this weekend. Hopefully through the week.

Cheers

AH ha. These are thermally fused together. The only way to prise them open is to cut them apart. I noticed a blue colour just inside the border of the case in your 2nd img. Then I looked at the 1st pic. and noticed the blue colouring on the case. My guess is that the two halves are separating, which causes the ratcheting noise. These have likely been repaired and are coming apart. When I do mine, I add in 2 extra screws at the top of the housing, this is where the load is, if you hold the actuator while it is working, you will feel the case bulging out, this is because the rack, after reaching the end of it's travel, is forced up and over the spring loaded ramp to descend back down to close the mechanism. This is my method...I have 5 bolts/screws that go through the whole case. I dare say it is stronger than OE. Sorry Holden lol.
Hi, thanks for your info.

I got 2 second hand genuine ones, and replaced them.

Once I got my original one apart, I wasn't sure what was happening with it. I would of loved to have fixed it. I ended up throwing it out.

Hurts me to see things go to waste like this
If it's only made it to the bin, I'd be happy for you to help me figure it out.
I put it into the to hard basket when I got the replacments.

I retrieved it.
If I remember right, it would unlock then not lock. And then some times.

OK.
One of my other posts hinted at this being previously repaired. Looks like I was on the money.
The secret to success is being able to keep those two halves together.
See previous posts re adding screws through both halves. Unless you are able to do this, you can't achieve a proper fix.

One of my units above
This is what you will need to do to clamp both halves back together. I haven't shown the two through bolts where the original screws mount the actuator to the mechanism, all that's needed there is to 'ream' those original holes to accept 2x 4mm x 0.7 screws. The unit has to be sealed with goop.
Note: The furthest left hole I have drilled here is extremely close to the plastic driven gears. There will be no point progressing further if you are unable to drill to obtain necessary gear clearance. It is tight.
I will walk you through testing/ evaluating components as required.
Ok cool, that would be awesome.
4mm x 0.7 self tappers or tap thread?
Sort the holes first, then check the components?

Pete
