New Speakers!!!

Picked up some new front and rear speakers from Elite Electronics (via fleabay) - just arrived today. Alpine 2 ways for the rear and splits up front.
  • Alpine S-S65C S-Series 6.5" 2-Way 240W Component
  • Alpine S-S65 S-Series 6.5" 2-Way 240W Coaxial
I'm using them with the AERPRO APS58 speaker leads - which have spade connectors one end for the speakers and the other has clip that plugs into the Holden OEM door speaker connector. I test fitted the fronts this afternoon in a spare front door I have - they can be made to fit without using the space that comes with them, but will probably need new holes and use of some screw retainers (supplied). Using the thin spacers provided, they fit beautifully - I just don't have the door cards (at the panel beaters still) - so hopefully they clear them ok with the spacers on.

I'll just be driving these off the stock head unit (Maestro 260W) - and leave the rear 8" subs alone for now. The subs work fine and I think they weren't connected from factory, so are working better hooked into the OEM amp now!

Well, after six weeks of the Calais waiting while the painter got over a back injury, and various other delays, issues etc., she has finally got some paint on her! I know it doesn't look too different as the original paint was pretty good but having all the small dings and scratches out of it is great. Still needs to be cleaned up (a few bits of trash in it) and buffed. Lots of brand new original bits to finish: HBD kit, bumpers, door handles, fuel flap, etc. Then new windscreen, all new windscreen rubbers front and rear. Should be home next week to put it all back together fully.

Finally got to pick the Calais up today! Looking pretty, but still need to spend the weekend fitting some final exterior bits and putting the headliner back in, and putting the international wheels back on... they she is good to go again!

Well after about 13 hours of friggin around (don't ask me where the time went!) she is almost all back together... all done on the outside just a few bits to go on the inside. I'm pretty sure I plugged the drivers door speaker in back to front  , so that has to come out again; and the tweeters need proper joining and not my redneck twisted wire and solder job.
