Lmao Lawn porn..:D

It was 2k for the front end repair and paint...pretty much the bonnet, both guards and the front clip, top of the drivers door was a blend in for thin paint, left mirror had a scrape fixed and painted, there was also some surface rust appearing around the rear rubber of the boot channel. They treated and resprayed that right the way around the channel.. I think probably 8 to 10 pdr repairs were done.

Sounds like a good price to me. I haven't had an panel work done in 10 by a pro but I'd pay that.

What's a full closed door worth these days? Twice that I assume?

Replaced 2 of my keys today...was not only the broken rubber buttons that wear out but I broke the physical boot release button.
Replacing them was pretty easy though...Holden wanted 420 dollars for 2 keys.
I went to supercheap and repco for the parts. Cost about 2 hundred for 2 keys and I still have one more burn on the programming unit for one more
key.

Bit of an update coming on Friday. I was originally going to put a set of brembo's on the car but my mechanic talked me out of it. Sort of thankful in a way. Beautiful brakes but I can spend the extra money saved, elsewhere. So I've been waiting a few weeks for these to arrive. Just stock calipers but fully rebuilt and obviously red. I have 4 new RDA slotted and dimpled rotors going on and new pads.
It should tidy up behind my wheels quite nicely.

I like key reader clip....got spare blank & reader with car I bought just never bothered to try it after other yt clips made it annoying to understand.

Yours was quite simple & easiest to follow that I've seen.

vz ssz utes & other cars got spacer bracket for the calipers to run larger front discs.

I might add these are our pride and joys = ( not A9Xs, 350 monaros or ford falcon GTHOs ) = so even way less value, but even if they were = only need the brakes to save you/ and your car once to be totally worthwhile !!!!

Thanks for the feedback guys.

I was really close to buying the brembo's. Geez they are nice looking caliper.
I was at the mechanics talking to him about it as a 4k investment was one I was on the see-saw on at the time. Do I or Dont I..
He basically asked me ... Does the car stop...well yes..do you hoon...no. Do you drift...no. Do you drag...no. Do you go to track days...no...so wtf would you want to spend 4k on brakes... lol I dunno....I'm a snob lmao
So he killed the Brembo dream (for now) but I have got the calipers (standard) looking nice and rebuilt and have some nice rotors and pads going on.
Will still tidy things up behind the wheels.
Suspension will likely be next on the list (with saved funds)...not too sure yet.
I bought myself a little 2007 RAV4 (shopping trolley) as the 10 dollar startup each time on the VX was noticeable and also I didn't really want to put too many more kilometres on the clock just getting the shopping etc. I'm trying to keep the VX for those longer drives where I can appreciate the car better.(saving my kilometres for the better runs)

I actually think I've found a decent panel shop where I live (I wasn't totally happy with the last guy. Had some stuff I had to fix on his job.). I got a quote for my car yesterday, remembering that my car is very straight...still has a couple of small car park dings but generally what you'd consider straight.

5k is what it came back at. I told the guy that I've worked in the industry for 30 years (although mostly with boats minus 6-8 years in a panel shop) and I'd like my car laser straight. He assured me at that price he could do the job...inside of 2 weeks. He sort of indicated about 1000 dollars a day so I assume about 4 days of labour and 1k for paint, thinners, paper, tape misc etc

25 years ago my boss was charging anywhere from 2.5k-5k for an above average paint job so I guess 25 years later 5k is not a huge number.

At 5k though and with my current costs in the car...I might prep the car myself and hire a shed...do it myself. Now I have another shopping trolley, I'm not dependent on the vx as a daily. makes things a bit easier.
