gawd, plans have changed :p Never thought I'd end up on this path so quick but dumped the stroker idea and going a harrop 2300...once I find out availability I'll likely drop the deposit.
Was sort of resisting a charger for legality reasons but was assured by a couple of shops that this can be engineered in case of a canary.

Gonna put it on my stock bottom end, the tops done...see how it goes. Engine can be built later when needed....hopefully after a good run :)

Gotta say I'm pretty excited about a charged ls1...first supercharger !!

What an excellent choice! Is it the full Harrop kit you're getting? I've been looking at one of those for the past 12 months but I'm too much of a coward lol as they're not cheap.
Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't these like somewhat kind of ADR accepted so they're really easy to get engineered.
Should be awesome!

Is your auto built to cope with the additional torque?

I also keep looking at the Harrop chargers, hard to justify paying basically the price of the car again for a little boost

I just need to convince myself a bit more I think

Have a few beers and think about it, drunk you might decide to go ahead and make the purchase ;)

You will absolutely love it.
Lots of low down torque, positive displacement supercharger makes for a very entertaining weekender/ street car.
Yes can get them engineered , mine is , had to get brakes for the engineer to pass it.

Not a bad thing, standard brakes are pretty ordinary .

I don't have any of the supporting mods that you already have so am very interested to how yours goes.

yep...bit the bullet today. There is a 4 to 6 week turnaround from the day its ordered so its gonna feel like a long wait (especially with someone that has zero in the patience department)

So I was left with the opinion that if the car has matching numbers and hasn't increased in capacity then the supercharger can be engineered.

I had a heavy duty 4l60 built just before xmas. I caught up with the transmission guy today and he assures me that unless I'm driving it like its stolen then it should hold up. He did warn me of the torque but also said that a 4l60 can be built to suit (stronger again). I dont like the idea of going a turbo400 especially with the cost. At the end of the day I'll drive it till it craps itself and then go from there.

@afstruct I knew not getting those Brembo's was going to come back and bite me lol Did you have to get your emissions done when engineering it?

@whiskeytango Yeah its the complete kit. The pod will get binned though. I cant stand the look of those pods. You pop the bonnet and the first thing you look at is the pod. I'll look around for a custom intake if I cant find an aftermarket one.

I spent = ( some of !!!! my 2nd redundancy ) = ( first redundancy paided off move and mortgage free) on mine after I got another full time job.

So !!! Harrop 4 spot calipers and 343 ml single piece vented discs all round.

Can fit larger discs if willing to only run 19" wheels.

For street use my set up is more than acceptable and a huge improvement on standard. = so glad I went this option.

Because the place that fitted and tuned were using the same engineer I got and were doing quite a lot of ( and more radical than mine ) = ( they already had emissions readings that the engineer was happy with = so very generic).

The 3 things he wanted to see/ test were supercharger fitted , brakes fitted and a noise test = which I took the car to him after everything was done .
Lucky = still standard exhaust except for cat back = only about 2 decibels under!!

Thanks Afstuct, I appreciate the feedback :)

I have a few small issues...my cam is too big so will need a stocky installed, a major de-tune for the HP, I have 100 cell cats, catch cans etc that will need changing. I'll likely do a brake upgrade anyway. Someone pointed out these guys... Vari . Aussie designed and made so happy to try them out. Came with good reports from the shop and support Aussie made . Really nice looking brakes.
Anyway engineering it will be a problem that is forced...hopefully many years down the track...fingers crossed :p
