Vz wagon new trans problems

That car is a history.
A 5L40e trans isn’t going to just run in any old car. It has to have the electronics set up for it.
You may well have a Frankenstein Wagon with someone mixing matching and having mad electronic skills and equipment to get it working.

Normally the 5L40e was paired with the LY7 engine.

4L60e was paired with the LE0.

The code one the trans that’s in it is a 7hsd

If you have a 5speed auto the gear selector will be different. Also have paddle shift on the steering wheel.

A better transmission than the 5L40e in that parts are easy to get for rebuilds.

I’d suggest taking it back. They might want to do a trans oil flush and filter change. Sounds like a second hand trans, not a rebuilt one. In that case a 3mth warranty is common but check the paper work. If it’s rebuilt, there will be a 2year guarantee if they are worth their salt.

It will be a transmission issue and nothing else.

That is just my shifter shroud they already mentioned that that does not match the box as there is a five speed box installed with a 4 speed shifters setup
