So I'm getting excited about my Redline, just under 3 weeks till it gets built. Im a numbers man and love to know anything and everything about my cars production history including obtaining the broadcast sheet. no probably not, the order was put in by Holden as they have to schedule cars before hand, so the car was probably just a car - no model assigned to it. It is then picked by one of the dealers from around the country and that how the order starts. So my dealer probably chose that car, but because it was so far out and wasn't assigned to a customer, they could just keep it "blank" and have that spot reserved for them until a customer came in to put a factory order in.

We picked up our SSV Friday two weeks ago, straight off the showroom floor hadn't been driven before, took it for a test drive Thursday before, baught it an hour later, took delivery 24 hours later:

Red Hot SSV Auto
May 2016 Build
Sunroof
Bose
Holden Racing Floor Matts
Tinted Windows
Full tank of PULP
$52500 including on road costs

Just emptied our second tank and averaging 14.3L/100km so far which is all sub 80kmh driving, average speed 35kmh. Not bad when you consider our last two Subarus averaged 11.5-12.5 in the same conditions and not only were the engines three times smaller, so was the power output.

HSV SV Black
For the last year I really thought I was going to buy an MY17 Redline with the full blackout kit, black roof, 20" wheels and add the Walkinshaw W375 option (looking at low $60's). That was until I took my wife to see one. It happened to be parked next to a HSV SV Black with all of those options already on it except for the W375. She said you might as well just buy that - so I did.

HSV SV Black June 2016 build
Auto
Heron White
Sunroof
Black Roof
Standard 20" satin black wheels
HSV mats (standard)
Premium number plates
Full tank of 98
Slimline Weather Shields
Boot liner
3year factory and 3 year Dealer warranty

Sydney Dealer - $69,000 drive away

I checked other states and was getting quotes of $73k to $74k and Orix came back with $70,500 when I got a quote to lease one. There are only a handful made with the sunroof and black roof options which hampered the negotiations.

I'm with you on this. Yes you don't get the have seats as the Sv has the redline seats. But have brakes, preference dial, and imo the arse end of the hsv's I consider to look 100 times better the the commodore.

I had those thoughts too about the HSV Black but also think will the redline come out with any of this? Plus doesn't anything HSV cost more? Parts, service, etc?

HSV Black is the last of the high tuned LS3 out there so it's got some value there.
There is an inherent cost entry into performance V8s... it's negligible between Holden and HSV. If you do your maintenance of consumables (rotors, brake pads, etc) at the stealership then you are the sucker at the poker table of life.
