Maybe I should clarify that I haven’t seen many newer Commodores over the years with peeling paint. Nearly anything older than VE series 2 will almost certainly have a 50/50 chance of having peeling paint purely based on age.

Mitsubishis on the other hand I’ve seen relatively new Tritons and Lancers with peeling paint.

In some ways, that is even worse. Make the paint good enough to last just past the warranty period.

Realistically I think you should be able to get at least 10 years out of the paint on a new car but it is a losing battle (here in Australia especially) to the sun WRT paint.

The VEs seemed to be pretty good from my experience, my old SV6 only had peeling paint on the rear spoiler in the last couple of years of my ownership so it made it about 10 years before any of the paint started to peel and the rear spoiler probably only peeled because it’s on a plastic part and exposed to a lot of sun.

Cant speak to the provenance on the paint with my SSV as I only bought it in 2020 but it’s not peeling currently. It is parked undercover though now I have a carport so the paint should last a lot longer.

Hope that dent wasn't some weird structural thing from factory, because it's gone now.

More powers and less fuel when cruising on the Hwy doing $1.10 in the Honda after the tune

Disclaimer: The 6.1ltrs/100km was started on the Hwy and set to cruise control, I rolled like that for a while with no traffic, until nature called and I stopped to pee, the 6.5ltrs/100km was a better actual average as that took into consideration other traffic on the way back, like people doing 90 in the right lane, and trucks taking up all the lanes trying to overtake each other.......very slowly

I think my previous best was a 6.8ltrs/100km sitting on the same bit of road, same speed and cruise control
