When all 8 injectors get replaced.... do they re tune the ECU or does the computer self learn?

They fit standard replacement injectors, pressure/flow rate characteristics should be the same.

Okay fair enough. Makes sense.

2014 VF SS-V
I have a 2014 SS-V and had the #1 injector go - at the same time it dropped the #2 cylinder (this was back in mid 2018). Since then another injector has been replaced and I am about to have to replace a third.

^ there we have it, the issue is confirmed to exists up to October 2017 builds. So it looks like all VF series 1 & 2 V8’s are impacted and the injectors will eventually fail. And in some cases the failure can cause adversely drivability in traffic (which is simply not a safe thing to occur).

So the question should be why isn’t this issue covered via a recall where owners can better plan to avoid unexpected down time or unsafe faults occurring in traffic. It smells of the electronic power steering assistance failure debacle that took a stupid amount of time to resolve via recall.

Like the EPS problem, I’d suggest owners impacted by injector faults, especially when adverse drivability occurrences, report these failure to ACCC and DOTARS as a safety issue. Maybe then the regulators can act on it if Holden doesn’t.

It’s well and truely about time Holden did the correct thing by their customers, not wait for the regulators to force a mandatory recall and instead fixed this via a voluntary recall.

Mate, I doubt is this will be a recall. Stop suggesting to the public on here that the injector issue can cause adversely driveability in traffic. I did have this issue in my Redline and managed to drive from Crown Casino back to home which was 22 kilometers away. I also drove it to the dealers which was over another 30 kms away. It is a V8. I had 7 other cylinders to propel the car forward. While you can tell it has a failed injector and notice it's running on one less cylinder, it was fine. Mind you I also had another injector failing too which made the car go like a rocket after being repaired. I now have 8 new injectors. Same part number and yes they might fail again. Just like the EPS issue, it isn't that dangerous if it fails. I also had this issue on my series one VF Calais V. It just drive like a car with a flat tyre. What you mention throws panic in the community as nothing may even happen the vehicles in question.

@Anthony121 just because you suffered mild symptoms doesn’t mean every one has experienced the same symptoms. Some forum members have reported drivability issues with what they describe as serious vibrations. Such vibrations can distract a driver at an inappropriate time which is in itself a safety concern. Obviously this issue is not the same as a Hyundai wheel falling off (was oddly not a recall but quickly addressed by Hyundai) but engine drivability issues are still a concern. And other manufacturers have recalled their vehicles for lesser engine issues so why shouldn’t Holden preform a recall to fix this obvious problem (rhetorical)?

So let’s not repeat the same spiel as the ‘EPS assistance failure is not a safety issue because you can steer’ as many pushed within that thread. We should now know EPS assistance failure is obviously a problem that is being resolved (slowly) by a recall.

The product is defective as sold and in some instances it can be a safety concern so let’s focus on that instead. Let’s focus on getting a correct fix to the problem, not a piecemeal part fix where some get injectors replaces under good will while others pay for an individual injector (as has been reported here). A recall resolves these cost and possible safety issues. It also allows those that have previously paid for a fix to look at recovering their costs.

And if forum members can’t understand what’s written and intelligently assess their experiences and document it with DOTARS, but are instead thrown into a panic by what I’ve written, well we are all doomed.
