This sump is 100mm thats 55mm added to the front of the factory GMH 6L80 pan depth
I'll put the car up on ramps after weekend to check everything is okay for piece of mind
However will take the time to take some dimensions and heights of current pan and location

This is what I was referring to with pan with baffles, looks the go
I've been thinking about this trans baffle situation, since it was first mentioned?

With the trans filter sitting so low in the pan, l've been thinking maybe this is enough of a baffle for a street car.

Different story for a race car!?

I can only guess that baffling will work both ways… it’ll help retain the fluid near to the filter/pick-up, but it will also slow the replenishment of that fluid. So, maybe it’s a case of six of one, and half a dozen of the other, and maybe that‘s why there is no baffling?

I think there was a couple of threads in the VE section about fitting the deeper Camaro pan and filter because of the fluid surge issue experienced by some when driving spiritedly with the stock Commodore trans pan.

I fitted a deeper pan on the missus VX Calais and it definitely hangs lower than other stuff but the car is only on L springs or the equivalent of FE2 so never had an issue with it scrapping or hitting anything. For a moment I did consider fitting the same pan on the VS Senator but that thing is stupid low, the trans already sits lower in the car than the later models and fitting a deeper pan is probably really asking for trouble. Maybe a slightly deeper pan but steel so if it does get hit it only gets a dent and not potentially break which would be more likely with the deep alloy pan?

Breaking open 6L80E trans filter after
+152,000km

1. This is one owner, 2 driver car since taking delivery 23/9/2015
2. All the service work up to now has been logged with GMH dealership Mornington
3. I've been through the service book no mention previously of any service on trans
4. I phoned GMH Holden Mornington dealership, although name changed records, people, service history still there, after some intergating the filter and ATF was changed in Jan /2023 service @ 137,457 km although this was suppose to be done @ 150,000km
5. so first Trans filter and ATF changed a@ 137,457 km
6. @ 152000km filter clean

I suppose of the plus side we know whats happening from now on
ATF still looks shitty after 15000Km

Yup, your 15000km old fluid just flushed out all the crap after the first service.

Probably a blessing it has been done previously.

Mine looks bright red after 15000km
But I know my trans was clean when I put it in.
Fluid looked like yours at 75k kms when I got the car. Did a few pan drops and driving, about 20L worth.
Changed fluid november last year at 90k, indistinguishable from new fluid.

Filter looks alright, makes me wonder if I should change mine at all or just do some new fluid and then changed the filter in a years time. My car has 84K on it...
