    AC problems

Hey all, Now that Melbourne days are getting hotter, I've started using using the AC in my 2010 omega and have noticed some problems. Sometimes it doesn't get cold. But if I turn the AC off and on, it will sometimes start working and get colder. But when it does work, it doesn't get ice cold...

Strange rattle (rotating?) noise when accelerating from a stop

I've started noticing that intermittently there will be a strange rattle-like noise from underneath the car for about 2 seconds when accelerating from a stop. I cant hear it after this - only when accelerating from a stop. It's possibly worse when more people are in the car. I also notice that...

Cleaning throttle body on 3l 2010 Omega

Hey all, Noticed my Omega has started dropping a cylinder intermittently: sometimes when cold starting and sometimes while stopped at a traffic light. The car shakes like crazy. Restarting the engine a couple times usually fixes it. Usually chucks a P0300 random cylinder misfire code, but it...

    New speakers for rear doors

Would this be okay? https://www.repco.com.au/in-car-technology/car-audio-accessories/amplifiers/pioneer-gm-a4704-4-channel-amplifier-520w-gma4704/p/A9762069 i notice the RMS rating is about half of the speakers. Is that okay?

    New speakers for rear doors

Hmm, know a specific model that will drive these plus the component +plus tweeters S65C's in the front? Any decent guides anywhere? To be honest, when I set the fader to the rear, I can actually tell they sound much flatter... Definitely needs an amp. Balls. Out of curiosity, what's the alpine...

    New speakers for rear doors

Is it an easy-ishhhh install? Also know of any cheapish amps?

    New speakers for rear doors

All in and they sound good! I might buy some for the front! Have you considered installing an amp to drive them?

    New speakers for rear doors

Bought them anyway! I'll see how they go

    New speakers for rear doors

Thanks so much for the help! I actually checked autobarn and they have one not too far away so I might pick up those Alpines today. Just wondering, I notice the wattage is a little higher. Do you think I'll notice a lower volume if I only install them in the rear doors?

    New speakers for rear doors

Hey mate, thanks for the reply! Its nice to hear someone else has had this problem! I can't seem to find those Alpines in stock anywhere. Would these do a similar job? https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/pioneer-pioneer-6.5-inch-2-way-speakers-ts-f1634r/345865.html?cgid=SCA01030802 In terms of...

    New speakers for rear doors

Hey all, Just noticed the rear right speaker in my 2010 omega wagon wasn't working. Took the speaker out and noticed the terminal is completely corroded and one wire had failed. I decided to cut the wiring loom off. After checking the left speaker, it's also severely corroded but both wires are...

Is the sway bar under tension?

Update: replaced the links today with Mackay's and the clunk is gone! Not sure if it's a placebo but i think the ride is smoother too. Thanks for the help everyone! :)

Is the sway bar under tension?

Cheers mate - I'll look them up! By the way, did you get your knock sorted?

Is the sway bar under tension?

Hey mate. I finally changed the d bushes to no success stoppin the noise... In terms of checking the links, do I need to jack the car up and take the wheels off? Or is it enough to turn the wheels to full lock and undoing then? Also, if I replace the links, would cheapies from eBay be okay...

Is the sway bar under tension?

I'll definitely have a better look at the sway bar links. What D bushes do people recommend? Also, I see that the current ones on there are 24mm, but for some reason the repco/sca garage tool says the 24mm doesn't suit my car and I should get 23mm... Any thoughts?

Is the sway bar under tension?

Sway bar links seem to be fine. I was sceptical of the d bushings too, but other users on here seem to have solved super similar knocking noises with the d bushings. Since they're so cheap, I feel it's silly not to try it

Is the sway bar under tension?

So I should have no problem changing them without jacking the car?

Is the sway bar under tension?

I've been getting a clunking noise in the front near side over bumps at low speeds. It's quite hilly where I live and is near constant. Apparently the D bushes are an easy replacement to try fix the noise. I have very few tools on me and am wondering if I need to jack the car up or if I can...

    Creaking/clunking possibly from sway bar?

Hey all! My 2010 omega Wagon has been fantastic until after a recent trip from Melbourne to Brisbane. Since I've noticed a creaking/knocking when going over bumps (the roads up here are super uneven so its constant). I only notice it when going under 60kms, and it's coming from the front left I...

Temporary fix for roof lining sag?

Thanks for all the replies. Ive been quoted 260-360 for a fix from various mobile trimmers. As an extremely poor uni student, I'd be interested in trying to do a permanent fix myself to save money. Is this possible through buying some basic equipment from supercheap plus fabric? I'm more than...

Temporary fix for roof lining sag?

Hey all! Today I've noticed that the roof lining in my VE wagon is sagging just inside from my two front doors. I have a feeling it's because I accidently left the windows down overnight. It was a hot day, rain got in during the night, so the humidity probably impacted the adhesive. I can't...

Setting up a CB in a sportwagon

Hey all! I'm planning to take my omega wagon for a trip around and through Australia. I figure a UHF CB would be a worthwhile investment for the journey. Does anyone have experience setting up one in the commodore? The rear 12v socket and battery in the cabin makes for an easy power supply...

Check engine light on cold start

Update: I checked the spark plugs. They didn't look too bad but were very carboned up (pitch black). The gap seemed fine. I replaced them with laser iridiums yesterday and the car started this morning with no check engine light! Obviously I'll need longer to know for sure, though. I also added...

Check engine light on cold start

Interesting. I'll do the plugs first and go from there since the coils are a little pricier. Thanks!

Check engine light on cold start

The scanner I'm using is an ANCEL AD310 OBDII/EOBD+CAN. I have tried a different more expensive scanner and same code. I'm thinking I might change the coils and spark plugs (they're almost due). It seems like a relatively easy and cheap thing to do and then I can rule them out. Battery is...

Check engine light on cold start

Nothings been done to the plugs - I don't think they're scheduled to be replaced for another 15000 Kms. Again, I received the same code this morning on another cold morning. It doesn't specify a cylinder. And again, the light was on with a rough idle for about 20 seconds and then it ran...

Check engine light on cold start

The car has done around 105k kms. Is it common for these problems to arise on a cold start?

Check engine light on cold start

About a week ago I started my 3.0 sidi omega parked on grass on an extremely cold morning. The check engine warning stayed on for around 30 seconds then turned off. I checked and there was a p0300 code for a random cylinder misfire. I blamed the cold weather as my car was pretty much frozen...

    Oil level on dipstick

I'm not really worried about oil consumption - it's been pretty reasonable considering how I've driven it. I'm only topping up because I like to keep it above half way on the dipstick (I only added maybe 100-200ml).
  30. C

    Oil level on dipstick

I've read it many times under different temps and on a flat surface. Whichever side is top when going in reads lower than the other. I assume it has to do with the angle of the tube and the tip of the dipstick being quite thick/large. Not sure why they didn't use a flat dipstick.

    Oil level on dipstick

Hey all! I've been having some problems with oil top-ups in my 3.0l Sidi VE. The dipstick is a little difficult to read. It clearly needed some extra oil, so I added some. But, now I notice one side (the top) shows that the oil is maybe half way between the min and max areas, whereas the other...

    V6 3l SIDI dipsticks

Just out of curiousity, do you think leaving that extra oil in will do any engine damage?
  33. C

    V6 3l SIDI dipsticks

Hey. I've just done an oil change and am a little confused on the dipstick. This one works on an add and max 'area.' I believe I've slightly overfilled it. The manual asks for 6.7l and I've added maybe 6.9. I'm having trouble identifying how far over it is though. Immediately after the full...

    Active select and rev limiters

Hey all. Recently purchased an awesome low mileage 2010 omega (3.0l SIDI). The other day I was stopped at a red light and intended to overtake the car next to me as I needed to get over. I tried popping it into sports mode but must have accidently pushed the lever up and entered AS mode. This is...

    Fixing/replacing dash lights

Hey all! I recently bought my very first Holden (an omega wagon) and am loving it. The only problem I've found is a few of the lights on the dash are playing up. The lights on the left side of the Speedo and tacho aren't working. The lights on the tacho do flicker, though. Is this possibly a...
