So I've picked up my car today. They said that they couldn't fault the transmission but that they have reset it, not reset the adapt learn, but the transmission itself?? I asked about the flat spot and the slipping of the trans during gear change, they said they couldn't fault it. I asked what happens from here if I continue to get the same symptoms, they said that there is nothing wrong with my car but if I'm still concerned that they are more then happy for me to go to another Holden dealer for a second opinion. When I asked how come my car feels like it's trembling running a bit rough at idle they said that this is a natural characteristic of the car, it's the fuel pump switching on/off when it's not being used, something to do with vaccume, they said this is normal. So I guess I'll drive it around for a little while and see what happens. I just don't understand that the loaner evoke regardless of it being a 3.0ltr compared to a 3.6ltr seemed to have better throttle response. I would have thought that the SV6 would have better response, is all. Any thoughts on this remedy from Holden? Cheers

If only for peace of mind alone I’d suggest you put your hand in your pocket and take it to a known well respected tuner and ask for their advice.

If they think it’s abnormal and can tell you the fix required you can either take it back to the dealer loaded with ammo or you can bite the bullet and ask the tuner to work their magic.

One way or the other you'll at least know if it’s in your head or a real problem.

You wouldn’t be the first owner to be disappointed with the OEM characteristic of their purchase.

Thanks for the advice, when you say a known tuner, are you referring to a transmission specialist? Paying for a second opinion is definitely no problem for me, if I have to go down that avenue I certainly will but maybe for now I should drive it for a week or so and see if this reset has made some if any difference?

These days a good ECU engine tuner will also be able to tune the transmission.

I don't own many automatics but what I have had are tuned along with the engine.

Sometimes they throw it in with the tuning package, sometimes they charge a little more and of course they'll tune just the trans if that's all you want.

My comment is mainly to get a second opinion as the car could be displaying it natural characteristics and if it is then the dealer wont help you but a tuner may be able to improve it or at least give you advice.

I'd only take it to a dedicated transmission shop if I didn't have other concerns like the rough idle, so for me I'd be off to someone who can oversee the whole package.

The V8's have the rough idle OEMed in to give the owner the feeling they have a mild cammed muscle car.

Suppose you've got to give them half a chance and take it for a drive to see how this Trans reset goes.
At least they would have had to plug their scan tool in to do this I guess, so if there were any faults showing up they would have seen them.

Yeah I'll give it a bit of time, wait and see first. Thanks for all your advice though, I've definitely taken it all on board. Cheers

Any chance you could talk to your mate and get him to check out my car? I'm more then happy to travel to Peter Page Holden.
