Give it another 12 months and they will be under 20k. Perhaps a good buy second hand for a family car park beater.

I watch them closely on car sales as I'm in the market soon for a cheap car to run commuter Ks up on. Like you say, the majority of 'used' ZBs are at Holden dealers with about 5000 kms on them. Demo and loan cars for sure.
A month or so ago a Sydney dealer had a 2017 2.0 litre RS for $26990 drive away. It had 10km on it. So probably one of the ones registered as a 'demo' to get sales figures up and then left to sit for months. Still took a month to sell even when reduced to that price.
So I'll hang out a bit longer until they are even more desperate. See what I can get for $25k then.

$40k is still a lot to pay.
Wonder how much the Govt has set reserve for this vehicle - I doubt they would have even paid this much when they originally bought it under Govt buying system.

Can't help wondering how many of the haters have actually driven one ? Probably none of them I reckon.

Is that the Black one that's out there ?

Buying and selling cars is a business to the Government as they basically get everything they paid plus some running cost back when these are flogged off. They never lose any money, to them it's a win win situation.

Actually I'm starting to feel that this ZB thing is becoming nothing more than a storm in a tea cup scenario as every day now I see at least 5 on the road in every trip I do.

They are simply riding out the storm and so are the buyers I'd say. Give it another 6 months and most people will have well and truly moved on from the whole closing down of Australian production thing as everything now comes from OS.

Agreed. I see plenty of them around where I live. They are selling here, both to the NZ Police and heaps of others.

Also agree Badge, I see a few around each time I am in Auckland. Not all are police or rentals.

Qld police are extremely happy with Stingers for Road Policing Command and Sonatas for General Duties.

As far as I see it the complaint is not about the car but about the name.

It might be lonesome in the Commodore line but that will make it better value buying.

Qld police are now running a few Zb commodes Gold Coast and Scenic Rin areas. I read the Sonatas are not without issues somewhere on the inter web.

Stingers look mean as RPC cars. A few unmarked ones as well. Would expect the Sonatas are not as good as a VE/VF but obviously superior to a ZB.

Yep. The faithful wouldn't be comparing it to the Aussie built Commodores if it was called something else.
Smart thing would have been to end the Commodore name on a high with the VF2 and introduce the Insignia as their new imported large family car.
Maybe even an ad campaign listing the new features etc would have helped. But instead we got some arty farty ad that made no sense and tried to be fancy with no substance. It never stood a chance.

Haven’t seen a comparison between Sonata and Zb.
On paper a Zb ( in my view) should beat the Sonata.
I m not sure if the QPS Zb s I have seen are the v6 or the 4.
Stingers styling not my cup of tea. Think the xr6 turbos look mean and the NSW HP bmw looks cool.

    Looks are subjective of course.

All the hype about the Stingers... Have only seen one on the road.
    See ZB's quite a bit.
Geez, I've seen more Magnums than Stingers.

    ZB VXR?
Not sure about Australia but when Holden tried selling the Insignia in NZ it was an unmitigated disaster. There was no hidden market sitting there waiting for it, it was not good enough to compete with the equivalent Euro cars and traditional Holden owners skimmed the brochure then ordered a SS V8. I can't say for sure but I'd speculate the failure of the Insignia was a major factor in Holden retaining the Commodore name with the ZB.
