Fault code Scan tools

Vt V6, no turbo or scharge
Five different scanners, all give different fault codes. No two scanners give all the same codes. even after code clearing.
The scanners are;
Vident I400. 3 codes
holden workshop. 5 codes
advanced engine diags. 0 codes
EFI live 7 codes
Tunerpro. 1 code
I am a little new to using fault code scanners.
To the more experienced scan users on the forum
Why do all the different scanners give different codes?
Is each scanner preset to different sensitivity levels?
Can fault code parameters be changed or adjusted?
Is any particular scanner from the list above seen as the gold standard?
