Yay for Spagways!

Dunno about the heater, I never looked into my old ute having no heater, just wiped the windscreen with a rag, cracked the window a little and wore a big jacket!

But being a roadworthy item, you should probably fix it, and before the 8 goes in, otherwise it'll be an engine out job

I like the dragways, they are better than stockies anyway, plus 215 tyres are so much nicer than 185s.

hmm i didnt realise a heater was a roadworthy item...good to know

Yeah its big jackets all the way, 5 am, 3 degrees outside, 2 degrees inside, arm hanging out the window like a boss

I've done it all before, but yes, a heater of some sort, windscreen needs demisting somehow. So yes, roadworthy. I wouldn't go much wider in tire size, maybe a 225 max, I went from bfg ta radial 245/60 14 to a gt radials 195/70 14, at half the price, ($250 per tyre vs $110) and massive difference in grip, especially in the wet!

Its been a while from memory you can get the heater core out from the engine bay undo the nuts around the heater box you can see under the bonnet left side of the firewall the fan is also changed from the engine bay it can seen in the same spot a few screws get it out it maybe chocked up with leaves. I must be weak but a heater is must can handle no aircon but hate the cold.

wouldn't a 12 volt heater use 40 or 50 amps (Im assuming somewhere around 500watts would be needed) it'll end up dearer by the time the alternator is upgraded.

Thanks boozer you answered the question I was about to ask about removing the heater core.

As for the pink slip, the ute failed... Tho not from the heater lol

The failed items were: frayed seat belts
Perished rubber on one tyre
No battery clamp
No horn
And a worn tie-rod

The seat belts were an easy fix, just ran a lighter up the edges to seal all the loose ends in... Looks brand new now.

The battery clamp was missing from when I slipped with a spanner attaching the battery and melted the clamp and almost set the car on fire  I has new one now.

New tyre... Easy fix, might just throw stockies on to pass rego

The horn turns out os actually missing the copper ring the steering column that powers the horn... I've got a new one comming.

And the tie-rod, i manages to get a brand new pair, they're pretty easy to swap out, and align

This is what the old ones looked like

I kinda think this end has had it.

So everything is very much better, the ute will go for a proper wheel alignment and a second bash at a pink slip on Wednesday.

Somehow I was expecting more, at least it's cheap and easy repairs.
