In most states if visibility is bad it is also legal to use hazard lights.

Yeah they can be a godsend, especially if you're not used to driving in weather like that ... hang back as far as you can, 'til you can only juuuust make-out the hazards on the car in front.

The issue with the new car "fog" lights , due to them being LED lights....LED's are a lot brighter than normal lighting....Combine LED lighting, with rain (which reflects light) and it's not hard to mistake them for high beam.

IMA, I quite often mistake new car headlights, on low beam, for being on high beam....They are blinding to on coming drivers, especially out in the middle of know where.

Glare isn't such an issue in Tassie though. Most drivers are considerate enough to drive around with two of their three brake lights not working and one main low beam and fog light out as well.

I think looking at some of the cars, they plan to get it fixed at the next service. Which will be when the car runs out of oil and seizes. Until then its all good, lets get the kids in the car and off we go.

It was foggy and raining.
I am presuming they are aimed incorrectly.

Ah yes BUT - it is illegal to drive on a road with more than two headlights enabled UNLESS you are using HIGH BEAM. It is illegal to use High beam in a Town or Municipality (that's every where in city precincts). It is also illegal to cause oncoming traffic to be dazzled by YOUR bright lights.

Not sure of the relevance of your statement but in most states it is legal to drive with high beam on in a town as long as you are not following a vehicle within 200m or within 200m of an oncoming vehicle.
