So even the rockers 2.25, heads, cam for 2.25, what type of combination/characteristics power wise and streetability do they make ?

Many people previously used to argue no performance cams to be run with anything above 1.8. But this does not seem to be the case, when asking many different cam makers. At the end of they day there can be issues, but it seems Mace may be addressing them in the heads they may be coming out with/testing etc ???

i beleive the highlift cam + 1.8 rockers belief comes from the fact that when you combine high ratio rockers with a cam that has a lot of lift you run into problems with the valve stem seals. machining valve guides and using the corect springs/retainers (to prevent coil bind) would allow much greater valve lift

some numbers,

VNs1 6.909mm or 0.272" (lobe lift) x1.6 (rocker ratio)= .435" valve lift, x1.8 = .490" or x1.9 = .517" or with 2.25 = .612" valve lift

VNs2 6.43mm In. /6.48mm Ex. or .253"/.255" x1.6(rocker ratio) = .405"/.408" or x1.8 = .455"/.459" or x1.9 = .480"/.485" or x1.95 = .493"/.497" or x 1.98 = .501"/.505" or x2.25 = .569"/.573" valve lift.

VS 6.56mm/6.48mm or .258"/.255" In./Ex. x1.65 = .426"/.420 or x1.8 = .464"/.459 or x1.9 = .490"/.485" or x1.95 = .503"/.497 or x1.98 = .511"/.505" or x2.25 = .580"/.574" valve lift.

popular cam figures (so you can calculate your total valve lift with chosen rocker ratio),

wade 992a , .295" lobe lift
wade 1114a, .308" lobe lift

from what i've been told, you run into issues with stock heads at approx .520"- .540" valve lift (depending who you listen too :D ), so you can see that even with 1.8(buick) or 1.98 (ecotec) ratio rockers there is plenty more lift available before you run into any issues maybe Steve can confirm?

lobe lift values curtisy of gregories automotive manuals

immortal,

For Ecotec = Camshaft Lobe Lift Inlet - 6.56mm
Exhaust - 6.48mm (Thanks again Gregory)

When doing cam searches, when telling them i have 1.95 r-rockers, Crow, Camtech, Surecam all spec'ed cams. Only wade and Come felt the ratio was too high. Theoretically higher ratio possible is the best apparently. Camtech did recommend some machine to the heads, valve seats etc.....others said no issues, again it would have depended on what they recommended.

Looking forward to your further calcs......

Steve, the new camshafts, you mentioned, up to which ratio rocker can they run ? Say for Daily and street profile ?

They are designed to run a higher ratio rocker such as a 1.98:1. In saying this though. I don't see why they won't work with the 2.25:1 ratio rockers either, provided there is sufficient PTV clearance.

The cams to suit are available in 210deg and 222deg duration or mixed.
Lobe seperation is 114deg
Lobe lift is .260"

In you case I would recommend the 210deg cam.

just wondering how much for a CNC PRECISION PORTED THROTTLE BODY & MASS AIRFLOW METER for a vx v6? ive already got CAI, k&n filter & FIT 1.9 roller rockers

Hey azzaturbo,

The throttle body is $220, while the MAF is $180 outright or $130 changeover.

The rockers/lift won't really effect streetability it's that cam profile that's more responsible for this.

The main reason companies recommend not to run a cam with anything over 1.8:1 ratio is because of the limits of valve lift in factory valve train (max lift on an standard ecotec is .520"). Plus the valve acceleration rates as well. However the new cams we supply address these issues with the higher ratio rockers :)

do you know what the lift imit is on stock buick heads? i'd imagine it's about the same as the ecotecs?

if so, some 1.9rockers on a standard cam might be do-able:D

Check out Ebay, Mace have some good prices going on there as well for the throttle bodies.......
