I would say it goes in through the trans dipstick pipe, that's how it was done on the VT.

I've got a VE MY 9.5 SV6 5 speed auto. Unfortunately holden thought it would be better without a dipstick or any other pipe leading down from the engine bay. I believe its located somewhere on the sump.

There is a torx bolt on either the passenger or driver side and below it on the bottom is the drain plug. (TAKE THE FILLER PLUG OUT FIRST) otherwise you might drain the fluid then realize the filler plug is seized.

VE Omega sedan 3.0 2010
I have a 2010 Omega, 3.0 L, with 6-speed auto.
I went to an auto tranny specialist and got the job done , with Dexron VI, and a full flush, for $400.
The Holden dealer wanted $150 wanted to use the wrong ATF, and only change what's in the pan - which is only half the job.
I intend to keep my car for a few years, and I am wary of false economy.

I should add that when I had the service, my tranny was behaving badly, and the full service restored it like new.

Yes definitely pay the money for a "full transmission service" which would be to drop the pan, complete drain, change filter and seals, proper refill with correct fluid (Dexron VI), and Fast TAP Relearn.

IMO the filling procedure is quite difficult to get right due to access and timing, as the fluid needs to be between 30º and 50º which is actually a small window, even smaller in summer. It can take hours to cool enough to be within range again.

The six speed utilizes a line pressure control system during upshifts to compensate for the normal wear of transmission components and to maintain shift quality. (Without this control system shifts would be more abrupt and harsh). By adjusting the line pressure, the TCM (transmission control module) can maintain acceptable transmission shift times. This process is known as "adaptive learning" or "shift adapts" to modify the Transmission Adaptive Pressure (TAP).

Holden is able to initiate maintenance cleaning of solenoids and update TAP information by hooking into the TCM to re-establish acceptable shift times. It is a simple software routine however it may take up to three hours and hardly anyone does it AFAIK. What doesn't help is that technicians are advised by GM that it is not recommended for TAP information be reset unless one of the following repairs has been made:
- Transmission overhaul or replacement
- Repair or replacement of an apply or release component, clutch, band, piston, servo
- Repair or replacement of a component or assembly which directly affects line pressure

I have had quotes from $126 to $290 to do this, (and can be performed with EFILive tuning software) but once reset, driving normally (conservatively) for a tank will set a baseline such that it will feel like a new tranny. Else it will still be stuffed because of a mechanical problem!

My ve omega has the 4 speed Auto did have 220,000klms on it. I took it in for a tranny service and asked if they use the dex 6 fluid etc as I wanted to make sure the dex 6 went in. I got that kind of look from him like I dont know what im talking about and he is the expert. Anyway he did a full service on it and charged me $220.00. I asked when he finished if he found any metal shaving etc he said " Not really just that the filter was really dirty and said shes still hanging together " Anyways now I have done 1000klms since the service and the tranny shifts worse than ever especially when the fluid is cold. When cold around 50 klm per hour the car doesnt know which gear to pick it up then changes down then up again. Never did this before my only reason for service was to get the brown coloured fluid change. Will probably be the last time I give a **** about tranny fluid never changed it in my vx commodore and it has 260,000 on the clock and shifted pretty much as good as it did the day I bought it.....

Sounds like low fluid for same reasons as six speed below. Don't know about controller for four speeds sorry.
