yep there is a spot for an oil temp sensor on the LS series engines, can also be in with the oil pressure sensor if it has 3 wires going to it could be a twin sensor or depending on model engine could be on either side of the sump...

Yes Ls1 & LS6 definitely, no sensor on our Gen IV.

Just asked my friend who has 2 cammed L98s and she says hers run around 105-115° so mustn't have anything to worry about :)

My mate has just had a 427 stroker put in his ls3 with cam and head work,

oil temp is going to 120 degrees after a quick squirt and has him concerned

Whild I was getting my ute tuned and had the 5w30 in it after 5 or 6 power runs it got up 122° then out the 10w60 in amd hasnt gone above 116

I was told one that you need to get the oil hot enough to burn of any moisture that may build up in the crank case. Based on that presumption you'd want to get it over 100° C. How much hotter is the question. I guess it also depends on the oil you are using, a full synthetic can handle more heat than a semi-synthetic or full mineral oil.

Ive been told they can run up to 150°C but that just seems way to high. Id be worring if it got up to 130°

mine runs at 90 - 95 sometimes dips down to 85 but ive got cooler thermostat and oil cooler ect

my mates maloo runs between 110 - 125 max also supercharged, cam ect ect and that's up in the hot tropics too

if it started going over 130 or so id be checking it out just encase

both running Castrol 10w60 too
