I just bought a new battery for my SSV today as I bought the car 16 months ago so I don’t have any provenance on the battery that’s in it and it looks quite old.

Batteries in my SV6 generally last about 7-8 years as they aren’t being cooked by the heat in the engine bay so yours still going since 2014 isn’t very unusual but I’d say it probably won’t last a lot longer.
Every battery check I do results in normal result.
Lockdown is not helping the batteries in my 2 cars. 11.6 Volts and 11.7 Volts at start up.
Grumbly kickover on both, but a decent run (within the range from home allowance by Gladys of course) made a difference.
Next start up for both was normal - 12.2 Volts.
But now they're parked again - Volts will drop.
Damn you Delta.
You made me bored and obsessed with detail.

I let my bike and car sit on a tender for at least a day every week, it keeps them tip top even during winter

Had to get the head done on the VC....Turns out had a buggered valve guide, some rotators were the wrong ones (bought the head 2nd hand 12 months ago) and a couple of weak valve springs..

Dropped the head off Monday, picked it up today and bolted it all back together...Just got the rockers to adjust properly, bolt up the thermostat housing and swap out the plugs after all the smoke disappears.....When I had the head off, I put a heap of oil over the block where the head bolts up and it was about 1MM thick on top of the pistons....So on start up today, it was a smoke screen behind the car...:)

So happy days...

Trickle charger.
Done, 2 complete restore cycles on each car. And carried out on the neighbour's car as well.
The other neighbour has his own trickle charger for his caravan, which he had offered previously.
Now looking for something else to charge.....

Picked it up from Fineline paint

Paint match is spot on

I'm loving the old school muscle car look, it even has the Mrs tick of approval, well she said it looked nice and shiny, which I'm classing as full approval

Were you ever at 21? If so you could call it the Red Rooster!

Looks great. What scoop is that you have there?

I was at 17 for awhile, "a little bear will fix it"

We did steal the wooden rooster from the 21 boozer in Brissy one year, it ended up in the bear cave, 21's SSM was most upset and made a huge fuss until it was eventually returned

The scoop is from > https://repliglass.com.au/product/vt-vx-vk-ss-style-bonnet-scoop/

chop chop underneath prior to paint

Thought it was VK one. I have just purchased a letterbox grille and the scoop and double hump for the hard lid is next.

Looking forward to taking the 111mm holesaw to the bonnet!

Spent my entire time in the FER/CER or the School of Many Errors. Played a lot of footy with the boys from 17 when they were in Sydney and I was in 1 Fd (a couple of times). I was in Brizzy when they closed the Bizzo and moved the boys up from Pucka. Spent some time in the old Rooster and the new.
