What are you drinking right now?

And I thought my double stout was headache material at 6.7%

what did you do to your car today?

That was me and it was only part of the problem. Never heard of it before but it was the rotors that were the main issue.

What are you drinking right now?

:p Not sure how you are so confused. I said Footy, as in Greatest Game of All, not Ping Pong as in keeping cricketers fit in the off season.

What are you drinking right now?

First game of the footy is on. Got 1920's Guinness clone, an Aussie and US style XPA and a Belgian Saison on tap so having one of each on rotation!

    Fuel pump questions.

Yep, Them auto sparkies are a bit that way; working with 12 and 24V is a bit how's your father. Us real electrician have to work with 240 - 415V and learn three colours. So much harder!

Rear end grinding/meshing sound, rubber or plastic seems like, almost a slight clunking sound ,

@Rastawayne To own one of these beasts and do your own maintenance you really need to own a decent scanner in order to do the diagnostics and then determine a solution as so much of it is related to sensors and computers. An engine fault light could be for numerous reasons. You can get it...

@Rastawayne Do yourself a favour and download the VT-VZ manual from this link: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1uKn7wFSNkq1OIzVBRGfuQHf6OB8ihmlW?usp=share_link It will give you all the info and more to solve your problem. Cheers n Beers Jolls

Check that first - it may be the culprit based on your description

Jolls VY SS Ute Project (Jimi Hendrix)

I think it is the law of tie-downs. If you have them available **** stays put - if you have useless ones like those in the VY/VZ then is slides around like no tomorrow. Now I have the tie downs sorted and a working barrier system you can bet once I put in the carpeted flooring system there will...

That is really coming up well. I'm really looking forward to seeing the finished product.

I trust everyone had a great Christmas Welded up the barrier for the tub today and mounted it the ute. I failed to think through the second and third order effects of my design so there are a couple of minor changes I would make if I did it again. The design issue is that I centred the mount...

Jolls VY SS Ute Project (Jimi Hendrix)

I have done a heap of research on this now. Pretty confusing at times and there are pros and cons. If I was living in a city with stop start traffic the cowl would be a plus, open road (like where I love) a minus. The research has also made me think about other cooling related mods that have...

Jolls VY SS Ute Project (Jimi Hendrix)

Didn't get as far as I wanted today because of the rain. I did sort out the issue with not being able to close the hard lid properly. It turns out that I miscalculated the positioning of the lower strut mount. I did a radius calculation to determine the initial position - clearly got it wrong as...

So we did progress a little today. Got the side rails in for the barrier. What a PITA - making the rails was simple - getting the spacing right to make the rails parallel took several goes. Now that the rails are in the struts bind on them. I will cut off the current ball mount and drill a hole...

Not sure at all @losh1971 It just works - I have never been close to a VE ute in the flesh, Next time I see one with a lid at one of the hardware store I will check it out and ask a couple of questions. Cheers n Beers Jolls

Until today, I always though that reverse cowls were race driven cooling improvements. I need to do some research but I think I am now officially a RICER having owned both a GTR XU1 and an LH with scoops and holes cut in the bonnet! Oh the shame of it all!

I have had both - but prefer the hard lid because I carry tools and materials in the back. Jimi is a worker after all! We remove the lid regularly and drop it on the grass - no problems at all. The real issue for us is the ability to stop loads moving about and having the ability to tie them...

So if ?I just grafted it on for show there would be nothing but an aesthetic upgrade (opinion based of course) but no return on investment from a performance perspective. Not sure I am liking this option much now. Will have to think about it! Cheers n Beers Jolls

You are on a hiding to nothing @losh1971. Son 2 told me in no uncertain terms tht he would dis-own me if I ever put a wing on the lid or a chev badge on the front. Having said that I'm not against it. A bit of perspective - at the time I was trying to explain a Sandman ute (with no pictures)...

White single wire on VU UTE

It doesn't show in the wiring diagram so it is excess. I just did an automatic rear hard lid lock upgrade for my VY ute and there I found a connector on the passenger side that doesn't show in the wiring diagram. I expect that it is the boot unlock for a sedan and the harness has been deleted...

Thanks for the heads up guys I am going to cut a hole in the bonnet. Hot air rises yeah? ... and there is pressure from the front that exits through the bonnet hole. Surely it will be cooler than as it sits with the standard bonnet. Not that it gets real hot with the PWR radiator. I do note...

Yes, I used a lLidlok. I contemplated making my own version and then calculated the time and cost to fab it up and it wasn't worth it. A luxury at $450 to save using keys, but they all end up scratched to **** if you do. I use Jimi as a work ute as well so I am constantly in and out of the tub...

@Fu Manchu I plan to use something to space and level the rails but haven't settle on what yet. It does sit fairly flat and I expect that once the tow bar is installed it may well even it right out. I plan to overcome the liner issue by using Raptor or something similar and then doing a...

Once the lid lock was in I started the prep work for installing the VY wagon tie downs. There is a bit of modification required to make them fit. Shown below is modified (on the left) and unmodified (on the right). Nothing you can't achieve with an angle grinder! So next the dry fit. The...

Hi Team, Been working hard trying to get all of the construction jobs complete before we knock off for Christmas tomorrow. Joke of the Day

Once upon a time Santa was getting ready for his Christmas run... but he was having trouble getting his **** together. Four of his elves were sick, so in a bind he hired a couple from down the pub. Good elves, but keen for a natter and did not produce toys as fast as the regular ones. Already...

    Tech 2 - Programming (2022)

I think some of the cheap bluetooth ones will read most of the codes but I have no experience to say one over another. If you are looking at doing anything more than troubleshooting they may be OK and something cheap you can shove in the glove box. I haven't come across one that is...

    Tech 2 - Programming (2022)

What is it that you need to do? The Vident is reasonably cheap and does the job if you need to link modules. I ended up with the higher end version as it does up to 70 vehicles and I can use it in my business - but if you just need it for one vehicle it is a great little bi-directional scanner...

    Tech 2 - Programming (2022)

I was not able to get the tech 2 (clone) to talk to the TIS2000 download using tech2win. Could get each side to communicate but not with each other. I tried using the ACDelco authorisation with Holden's assistance and nothing worked there either. Took it into Holden so they could authorise it...
