Any pics of your camper set up ?
I haven't done any work on the camper set up as yet, just couldn't wait to get out there, so I bought a couple of cargo boxes that sit on top of my bed for travel, a table that slides under my bed and a folding chair a top all that.
The factory tie downs for a tonneau are still there and used to keep it all in place, everything stays below the tailgate so does not affect sight lines.
Some stuff stays in the camper part, some will go into the front seats for sleeping and some will be outside.
Basically once unpacked I have at least half of the camper space for sleeping, depending on how much stuff I take.
Works OK for now and I am constantly having new ideas for the build, may hold off for a bit longer so I can get it right. Have considered a roof rack with ski box but do not want to ruin the lines of the car, may end up with a box hanging off the tow ball for dirty stuff/firewood etc. I have seen some with a swing arm that would clear my tailgate and give a little more privacy to the entry of the camper.
I did buy a portable battery pack with 120AmpH battery and DC/DC charger that runs off the main battery/alternator so I can run lights and charge camera batteries etc. I bought an Inverter on sale but have yet to install it.
Strangely the battery for these Utes is on the floor behind the passenger seat, weird but ends up working well for me as I can fit my second battery next to it, run a short cable to a 14L fridge that sits in the passenger footwell and feed cables up in to one of those back of seat organisers for charging cameras/phones etc.
I have a smaller 12V battery that comes in the back with me and runs a couple of fans as needed.
On a side note, I have hit a roo - going about 100Ks, 40kg roo struck right hand front corner, dead on impact and no damage to the car. I can only thank my decision to spray the speedliner for that.
I have been on rough dirt roads, corrugations, gibbers and black soil plains with no qualms. One thing which has been surprising is the ramp over angle, washouts and small hillocks can be an issue with this Utes long wheel base.
I have done a little over 12,000Ks so far, spent 20 odd nights in the back and am loving the car.
