MY 17 or MY 18?

I seem to recall that MY designations changed each September.

Does that mean the last VF2's produced in October 2017 were MY 18's?

Mine's an October build and all the paperwork lists it as an MY18. And funnily enough, the HSV authentication page has it as a VF3..go figure....

It is not a MY18 model as there aren't any.

Very confusing but VF2 made before and after the September/October 2017 change over date were exactly the same, so really they are the same "model" with one-off extended calendar production year. It is easier for people to distinguish between MY16 and MY17 VF2s.

There are no MY18 VF. Model year is designated as the 8th last digit in the VIN and the last VF's built will be HLxxxxxx (H being MY17).

My17 was first to start Jan 17 none produced in 16. My18 is new commodore

Model Year means “we’ve released this model for this year”. The date of release was never fixed, sometimes (mostly in the USA) “next year’s” model is released in March!
Real Commodores weren’t “released” for 2018. The 2018 model year cars are the rebadged Insignias.

This of course is correct.
That’s why many of us didn’t buy discounted MY16s at the end of 2016. We hung on until the beginning of 2017 hoping there would be something extra special for the MY17, the last of the Aussie built...so no, the MY17 did not continue the tradition of starting production in Sep/Oct of the previous year.
