whilst cleaning my wheels today I noticed my front calipers have ‘Mando’ stamped on them. I always thought stock VF SS calipers were PBR...???
What on earth are these...?

Only fronts are Mando...
Rear ones are PBR

Mando Korea. They supplied the Chev Caprice front brake caliper. Ron, are your front calipers single or twin piston ?

It looks like fronts only have one large piston ?!
Could these be $350 ‘option’ as fitted to US Police cars ?
I certainly did not pay extra for them...

Yes, they are. You also have the bigger booster/master cylinder too. (Same booster/master cylinder as the Brembo shod Commodores).

That’s nice surprise.
My research shows the car was optioned from the factory with 20” wheels too but the dealer removed those at some stage. They probably forgot it had better brakes as they never mentioned it.
It was dealer stock new SS black edition that I got for really good price...

Given that I fitted redline wheels and have bigger bmc/booster nothing stopping me down the track to throw some Brembos on it... ;)

The discs are 345mm
Apparently brake pad compound is the same as stock brembo brake pad compound..
