So I had a brain wave when figjam said the stock tire was 225/55/17. Went and double checked the tires on the Crewman now and that's exactly what it has on it!

That's a 26.74" (679.18 mm) tire diameter. The tire I want to run is 26.68" (677.67 mm). So the height is fine! I may have to space it out a bit to clear, but I am all set! All these parts that cross between the cars, I just assumed that Crewmans wore a 245mm tire on a stock 17" wheel. Guess you learn something every day!

This is from my Holden Crewman brochure of the time when they were new ......... but not the Cross 8 /6 which were later.

Crewman 15”x 7 steel rims 215/65 R15C. Carrying capacity 1,087kg.

Crewman S 16”x 7 alloy rims 215/65 R16C Carrying capacity 1,070kg.

Crewman SS 17”x 8 alloy rims 225/55 R17 Carrying capacity 750kg.

Wheel options.

Crewman and Crewman S. 16”x 7 ‘S’ series alloys 225/55 R16 94V tyres.

Crewman, S, and SS. 17”x 8 ‘U’, ‘X’ ‘Y’ series alloys 225/50 R17 94V tyres

Crewman, S, and SS. 18”x 8 ‘J’ series alloys 225/45 R18 91W tyres.
