- 1998 Vs s3 Caprice
Hey guys, been using these forums for years (even since before my account was made) but have never posted anything until now. Thought id throw up a bit of an overview of my weekender as you don't see to many clean ones anymore. I've had the car for about 2 years so have a few things to cover and more to come!
Car - 1998 Vs series 3 Caprice
Paid - $4500 no reg, no rwc (approx 2 years ago)
Rwc cost - $500 (car is super clean and looked after, credit to previous owners!)
Body Kit - Stock series 3 lip kit
Engine - 5 Litre
Engine mods - None
Transmission - Stock/Auto
Diff - Standard
Exhaust:
- Hi Tech Headers
- Single 3" Hi Flow cat
- Custom 3'' mandrel bent system
- Single rear muffler
- Hotdog
- Twin 3'' chrome dump tip
$1000
Suspension - Complete pedders suspension done by previous owner. I think sl height in the front and the rear i swapped out the sl to an older set off ssl pedders springs.
$2000
K's - Approx 190,xxx
Paint - Two Tone - Raven Pearl (I believe) B171 over Dark Grey
Interior:
- Series 3 grey leather seats with cloth inserts
- Centre console arm rest modded to have the mysterious vs statesman cup holder!
- Wood grain dash/console
- Charcoal dash mat
Lights - Completely stock. Running the vintage dim yellow glow on everything, will probably keep it that way
Audio:
- Alpine Single Din headunit w/bluetooth
Front doors - Alpine spr-60c type r 6'' splits w/focal covers to fit the stock door cards nicely
Dash - Alpine type r tweeters
Parcel Shelf - Rockford Fosgate R1653 6.5'' with spacers to fit the stock surrounds and covers
Roof - Stock (until i find some 4" speakers that will fit)
Boot:
- Single kicker 12'' sub and kicker 2 channel amp
- Removed 10 stacker for more boot space as it was broken anyway
- Factory steering wheel buttons hooked up to alpine head unit
Around $1000
Wheels - The car came with wh internationals but i sold them and put on a set of polished Series 3 Caprice wheels (still has the original s3 caprice spare in the boot, looks unused)
Extras:
- Upgraded the dash clock to a vr caprice clock (has the lion emblem) as mine stopped working.
- Genuine Holden bonnet protector
- Genuine Holden headlight covers
- Original unopened first aid kit
- Tinted Windows
- Vq caprice bonnet emblem. Original one must have been broken and swapped by a previous owner, still hunting for a vs one but not too worried as it matches the dash clock!
Future Mods/Plans:
- Custom plates
- Black Venetians, 3 piece (rear and side)
- Possibly go another size down in springs in the rear (although my current driveway is shagged and hates lowered cars)
- Vs bonnet badge
- Front metal sun visor
- Front weather shields
- Trying to look into getting the factory roof controls hooked up to the sound system but it doesn't look promising
- Probably get another sub and amp as the kicker combo i have in it i picked up for $100 off a mates now ex girlfriend. Unfortunately will have to re run a bigger power cable as i think mines only 4 gauge
Pretty happy with it being a cruiser and as it is. I plan to keep it old school/grandpa style. Its been looked after really well previously. I'm the 4th owner. The guy i bought it off was 65 and just retired. I only drive it around once a month due to having a company car but might get to some engine work down the track.
Input and comments appreciated!
Will add more pics soon!
