Some HJs had the fibre gear on the 202.
I remember changing to the straight cut gears on my XU1, they were fun for about a week then the noise drove me crazy.

Im gonna start a fued. What is actually faster, A VR v6 or a VE v6 (3L and 3.6L)?
Are you asking about straight-line speed?
There's a thread on whirlpool about top speeds. One poster reckons he did 200 km/h in a VR. Another reckons 202 km/h in a VE 3.6.

using the correct formula using engine revs, gear ratios and wheel diameter you can actually work out top speed pretty close.

Whats ur thoughts then

Shave 400-500kg off a VE to make it equal weight to the VR and it should be pretty obvious.

you can actually work out top speed pretty close.

Top speed doesn't tell you which one is "faster" or tell you about torque, the same top speed could be achieved by many econoboxes, that's why a quarter mile is the standard unit.

"Fastest" is actually travelling at the higher speed.
"Quickest" is getting to a certain objective first (ie top speed, or end of qtr mile)

Quickest I'd say a VE anyday but as far as fastest is concerned we'll never know because as far as I understand these vehicles will not actually get to a top speed as their ECU's generally have parameters that won't let them go any faster than the ECU will let them.

All v6 commodores are quite similar in terms of performance. Peak power increased for most subsequent models but weight increased in proportion. But earlier pre alloytec models have a far greater life expectancy.

Biggest problem with the fibre gears was the mush they left in the sump when they let go as it would block the oil pickup if you didn’t get it all out.
