How’s it going guys,
Having trouble with my wagon. Put Key in, turn it, wagon won’t crank. Starter relay isn’t pulling in, have tested it and the switched Earth it gets from BCM/ECU isn’t getting there allowing it to pull. Guessed at park switch, replaced it, still nothing. Bridged a known earth at park, put it on earth going back to starter relay, turn key and car cranked, but won’t fire. Am now guessing BCM issues, or VATS issues. Anyone had this trouble before? Starter relay is good, have had car cranking, so yeah half narrowed it down

Does the light go out on the dash when the key is in?

I don’t believe the security light comes on at all. Definitely out with key in, but I believe I should see it flashing with key out? Can’t see one at all as far as I can, and unsure whether I could when I first got the car. Believe I could though

The light should be flashing it may be a BCM issue if it's not flashing.

Yeah that’s what I’m thinking right now. Would there be any good way to over ride the BCM’s VATS system, as I definitely don’t need it to immobilise as it’s just a wagon to cart the dog around. If not, guess I’ll have to look at a new BCM, key and barrel

You can get VATS disabled in the BCM. Not something you can do yourself. A VATS disabled memcal is easier but more expensive.

I see. So someone with scantool could potentially disable vats in BCM, or get memcal sorted out? I’m up for either or, and would probably rather no VATS given cars wiring overall condition

Have you checked all the fuses? BCM could've lost power.
