    Headlight Shenanigans

Anyone ever experienced their headlight switch not controlling their lights? I've been having this intermittent issue with my Calais where i can't change my lights with the switch. So basically I've always got the day time running lights on even with the switch at the off position and...

    Mardi Gras Police Brutality

I can't believe the hype over this crap. If he wasn't gay and at mardi gras this wouldn't even be a blip on the radar, he would just be a wasted bloke on a Saturday night getting arrested, but the media has grabbed it and ran with it. Clearly the bloke is off his face on what ever drugs and/or...

    First car for a girl

Astras are shocking, don't ever consider buying one. They are stupidly expensive to repair and maintain (timing belt changes $$$) and they are notorious for bad wiring/electronics, often killing ECU's for no apparent reason and costing a lot to fix. For something different, thats very safe...

    German woman deafens telemarketer

That's pretty messed up...i know telemarketers are annoying and everything, but they are just doing their job. I hate getting calls from telemarketers as much as the next bloke but there isn't any need to resort to permanently disabling them with tinnitus. A little bit of empathy goes a long way...

[Buick] Choosing the right torque converter

Red Diamond make good stallies which don't cost a rediculous amount of money like some other companies. They're also Australian which is a bonus so you can have it built custom and delivered quite quickly. As for the stall point itself - if you have a dyno sheet with torque graphed on it you can...

Rear globe warning on VZ Calais

Well how stupid of me, lol. It was one of the number plate globes! The amount of times i've got the missus to check the break, reverse, indicators, etc while i stood behind the car trying to see which globe was blown...and i never noticed the bloody number plate was only half lit. Thanks for the...

Rear globe warning on VZ Calais

So the other day my Calais did it's normal check after start up and it came back with a rear globe fail warning. At first i thought no biggie, it's probably just a blown globe, easy fix. But i've checked all rear lights several times over and they all come on and work fine. So i'm wondering...

    Recommend me some metal bands

I know they might not neccessarily be classified as "metal" but Sevendust are awesome!! They are kinda heavy, but also melodic and you can actually understand the singing (which is epicly good!) unlike all the screamo "metal" bands out there these days. This is one of my favourite songs of...

auto trans stays at 2100rpm at 100 but not always...??

Yup, i was only commenting on monkeys post (which is why i quoted his post to avoid confusion), which is definately temp related, not the OP's. That being said i wouldn't completely rule out temp being an issue with Jas98's problem - but not with the trans being too cold. When the trans is too...

auto trans stays at 2100rpm at 100 but not always...??

That's not a problem, it's just how the transmission works. It won't lock up the converter untill it's reached a set temperature within the transmission. Similarly to how you might notice on cold starts the auto trans will hold gears longer for a little bit.

Need Help with deciding on engine mods VT V6

I never noticed any issues at all with shift points being wrong with different diff gears installed. I guess it might depend on how much they are changed from stock - i only changed to 3.45's.

    General thoughts?

Why? Why would you put a piece of crap haltec ecu into a nice senator? Your current delco is so much better!

Need Help with deciding on engine mods VT V6

It depends on the model of car you've installed the new diff gears into, but in the older commodores you need a resistor which is wired in between the speedo and the ecu to change the signal that is being sent. There are kits for this you can buy. In the newer commodores you can have the speedo...

    picking up the pieces

Mate, no offence but your posts are rediculously hard to understand. Try to gather your thoughts first then post, not just type as i comes to mind. VZ Calais.

Thats pretty expensive for a V6 calais - plus you've gone and done the worst thing possible when car shopping though, fallen in love with it. Just FYI, i bought my VZ V8 calais over a year ago for 16k in amazing condition. It really pays to look around, don't get your heart set on a car you've...

She'll be right - it'll only be .501 worth of lift with the 1.7 rockers and thats fine for ecotec heads.

    Mw3

Battlefield 3 ftw! There is just no comparison between MW3 and BF3. From what i've seen/heard, all the CoD fan boys are enjoying MW3, but everyone with an open mind has seen the game for what it is - the same crap they've been selling you for years. BF3 is a much more involving experience, using...

    vz write off value

Are you at fault for this accident? Are you doing this through your insurance or someone elses? Tough/urgent Decision - Very low Km VS Calais or Calais SC L67

Six and a half grand for a VS V6...stuff that! There's plenty of really nice VS/VR's going these days at half that price. They just aren't worth that much any more....i'd have another look around at what's available. Sometimes it even pays to search outside your immmediate area for cars too...

    Is this a fair quote??

You can't take the car anywhere because he has stripped the top end back to get the heads off to see that these valves are broken. That's why you can't just drive it away to get a quote somewhere else. Plus he can't just put it back together without at least milling the heads true and getting...

    Repaint/Panel beat

Unless this person is doing the respray as a favour or applying massive mates rates to your mum because she knows them well then you can almost guarantee that a $1200 full respray is going to be dodgy as hell. Xbox 360 still got the RROD?

Every console has it's problems. The 360 S is much better than their predecessor models but it can still have faults. I've known of quite a few having an electrical issue where the console will "zap" you when you touch the casing exterior. Another electrical problem they are known to have is...

    [Ecotec] stroking an ecotec

Mine was legal - in QLD all you need is a "mod plate" which goes in your engine bay and outlines all the changes done to your car. Of course a mechanic with the qualifications to issue a mod plate needs to go over the car and check it's all good, but it's a simple process and quite cheap -...

    Help!!!!! Please

Do you have insurance? If you do and you got his details, claim it through your insurance and they'll chase him for it with no cost to you. If you don't have insurance...well, goodluck with paying out of your own pocket for some other blokes mistakes.

    VZ Calais v8

Not sure if you've changed the exhaust yet, but that's the first thing to look at before a tune. The tune won't pick up as much power if you still have the stock exhaust on. The factory tune is actually quite good on the VZ's though - when i had my Calais done the tuners were surprised at the...

    trannie swap?

I was thinking along those lines - but with a VZ calais or SV6 engine and box combo. It would be a straight swap into a VY as it's the same body and would be free of any headaches.

    [Ecotec] Supercharged Stroker V6 Exhaust

Leave the exhaust how it is - twin 2 1/4" is perfect for a V6, even when it's pushing decent numbers. I had tryed a few exhaust combos on my old VS which was stroked and supercharged and the twin 2 1/4 was the best all round, especially for midrange torque. If you want to pick up a kw or two up...

    shift kit fuel consumption?

This sentence makes no sence. To go faster, to make more power, to create torque - it all needs fuel. If you want these things you can't be worried about spending a bit more on fuel. As they say, you can't have your cake and eat it too.

[Ecotec] Help stuck at 230kw only $2700 left in budget

I just noticed you saying $1200 for a re-tune - dear god thats expensive! I expect around the grand mark for an initial custom tune, but re-tunes shouldn't cost that much. Where do you go and what are you using?(ie, kalmaker?) I remember having my VS re-tuned a few times and it was usually...

[Ecotec] Help stuck at 230kw only $2700 left in budget

Definately consider going twins mate - it will really help, particularly with the spead of torque. I upgraded from a full exhaust with pacemakers, single hi flow cat and 2 1/2" catback to a twin hi flow cat and twin 2 1/4" pipes and it made the world of difference. Shouldn't cost too much to do...

[Ecotec] Help stuck at 230kw only $2700 left in budget

That cam isn't exactly tiny - for a street driven car (im under the impression that it is) that will keep the torque right where you want it. I'd say to leave it be and focus on temperature issues, get the best intake temps you can with the current setup in an intercooled form. Maybe even...

    The Damage Thread

My VS after a P plater ran a red turning arrow infront of me. Lucky it hit where it did straight on the rim - otherwise it would have hit right on the drivers door, a few inches back. The VS was written off with over $10k structural damage not including the rim or suspension, etc. No pics of...

VE Engine in a VS wagon

What type of VE engine would that be? Regardless, which ever engine your refering to, it would "fit" - but actually getting it mounted, wired and a gearbox behind it would be a huge project and take alot of cash.

    Vs engine shine help..

If your going to leave the engine cover off permanently then you can take the plenum lid off (aka top of engine) via the allen key bolts and polish it with an orbital polisher and metal polish. Sand it lightly first and then use the polisher - you could do it by hand but it would take a while...
