    Fanbelt Troubles.

Don't use belt grip. Fix the problem, don't go around it. Maybe a new set of belts is on the cards? They aren't too expensive, and yes - they do wear out. Cheers, Mudgy

    Fanbelt sizes VN V8?

Hello, I've had to make some mods to get my P/S pump and ALT closer to the block to clear my chassis rails. Now I'm using 11A 1125 for the ALT, and an 11A 1090 for the P/S pump. there's cut-outs in the frame horns to allow the Alt & P/S belt clearance. I also put an...

Tailshaft to diff - Bolts will not stay tight!

I'd do 2 x things. 1. Pull the shaft from the car, and have it checked. If it's got high km's it's pretty cheap to have the unis and centre bearing replaced. Vibrations as said can be a cause here. 2. New nuts & bolts. So cheap, versus running the risk of disaster. Nylocks or torque lock...

VN Calias V8 - Speedo required?

No mate, I still have the alloy AC mount, it uses a third vee belt - and in no way affects the position of the PS pump. I sourced an engine mount for non-AC equipped commodore, I'll use an AC pump (all electric) from a hybrid vehicle and install it in the boot. Plain and simple, the vendor...

VN Calias V8 - Speedo required?

Hi all, I got myself a new PS pump off ebay..... specs said it was for a VN V8..... Once mounted, the belt alignment was way off. Had to make some 6mm or thereabouts spacers for it.....and 3 x new longer bolts. At least this way if I ever need another one, the spacers can be ditched, or I'll...

Hello, I'm asking on behalf of a hot rodder I know.....he has some rims, 15" and he's not sure what car they are from.... I'm sure they are Commodore police car wheels...... VL police cars had this type of rim.... I am sure VN/VP too. Did other models have these wheels? Police cars, I mean. 15"...

Changed battery, car won't turn over, alarm set off VN

It's simpler to have a flashing LED and a kill switch. Get rid of the alarm. They are a good income source for auto sparkies.... especially when installed by "accessory fitters" Unless an alarm is going to save you on your premiums, then don't bother with them. Also, do you have a key switch in...

Vn Calais, electrical problem I can't figure out!

Maybe the instrument illumination dimmer is crook? Above the wiper switch - High beams, well check fuses, check H4 globes, check relays. Be careful switching relays, some are on/off, some are change over, some (mostly euro) have the pins in different spots e.g. 30 is 87 on some.

OK Thanks everyone. So I can use the ECM, just swap my memcal over. It was the ECU I was basically chasing. Anybody want the V6 memcal I can't use? Forgot to mention, I'll just be leaving the motor stock as a rock. Nothing fancy, just a good reliable runner.

    VP power windows not working

orange typically on holdens is a battery wire, usually for interior lights. (dome). Are you sure VP has a BCM? I was under the impression this didn't happen until VR. Could be wrong though. It's been a while. BCM's sometimes (on other makes too) would give the power window circuit some juice...

    VP power windows not working

If it's all of them, then it's probably a power supply problem. Use a test light at the switches. Check for + and -. From there, check the switch outputs. if all good, go to each motor and check for voltage there. A test lamp is cheap, and if you know how to use one, it becomes a 2 dollar tool...

    Sticking Starter Motor

Hello, maybe the ring gear has damaged teeth? this can keep the pinion stuck in mesh, have you replaced the starter relay? Melted fuse holder

If the car has H/lamp relays (I'm sure they do) you can run a new supply to the relay, fused from the Battery if need be. Like I said before, BIG glass fuse holders in the fuse box (for heater fan, and H/lamps) and you're good to go. I did this and ran 90/130W,H4's and 130W H3's No problems...

All Brake Lights Not Working - Switch ok, fuse ok, bulbs ok.

Use the test light at the switch. Check there. Second use the test light up at the lamps. My guess is all bulbs popped. It's a wagon right? hookin up a kill switch in vn

I had a Vp, the windows were tinted, so I took the rear demist switch & relay, and used it to cut the fuel pump. VN Dim lights, is this normal

Plus 50's are the way to go these days. Check that the blade fuse mount hasn't melted (in the engine bay fuse box) VK's did this for the heater fan & h lamps fuses. I used to cut the wire to the fuse panel, install a mm wire/glass fuse, and put hi/lo beam relays in. This protects your column...
